Ever seen Eldritch without his sunglasses on?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

It's been around for a while, but still worth a look at

It's well worth a trawl through the rest of Philippe's collection too.

Cheers

Yeah, I ambushed Von on the Saturday night of the recent Leeds gigs while he was hovering at the side of the crowd sans shades.

Afraid I got a little :notworthy: and failed to really get a conversation going!

no, but people used to tell me I looked like Jason Donovan.
I wasn't complaining, because he was quite a dreamboat at the time.

I was there too! He was wandering around in his big coat (indoors - if it's not one silly accnessory its another). I think he thought he was in disguise. Mind you, no-one was bothering so maybe he was. I think most of the generic goths (ie non-sisters specific fans) expect him to look a certain way and aren't looking for a short guy in an orange coat with no sunglasses.

Lots of times..he can often be seen roaming around without them at gigs. Sometimes he has wandered onstage before the support band for a look.

But the best was at the tenth birthday doodah when he whipped them off with the words 'now here's a funny thing' & did the rest of the show without them. Nice. Very nice.

I understand he did a similar thing the next or previous night (sorry can't remember- you were allowed 2 tickets for one night or one ticket for each night, I had 2 for one night) but stuck them back on again after one song.

Quick story: 16 Feb 1991. Leeds University (Fan Club Gig).
At the very end of the gig Eldritch bent over the front of the stage and very theatrically removed his ray bans. It was breath-taking (lol). He then bowed and put them back on and left the stage.

While I'm digging up old threads...

Saw Von (shadeless) at the Blank Canvas Saturday gig. Clocked him immediately, thought "I'll play it cool and not hassle him". Mrs markfiend came over and I said "look who it is". Von was kind of hiding in a corner, and he saw us gawping, smirked and lit another cigarette. He hung around next to us for about 1/2 hour during the support act (was it Oceansize?) and when he wandered off, he touched my shoulder!!!

I got the impression he doesn't really like being bothered, especially when on the Sunday night he disappeared backstage after being asked for two or three autographs.

He's a wee lad isn't he? I reckon he can't be more than about 5'4".

Hmmm, the famous Eldritch height debate. I reckon 5'5. Some say 5'3. Many of his female fans seem to reckon 5'10. Go figure...

He said in UTR that he's 5'9". So I guess that may be correct

as the saying goes: "if you could see what i've seen with you eyes" :urff:

and as the other saying goes: "he's right withnail. look at him. his mechanisms gone. he's had more drugs than you've had hot dinners" ;D

An Eldritch sans shades should never be gazed upon.
