I just got an e-mail notification from ticketmaster/live nation that the event has changed venues to the Grand Balloon in SF. I have a feeling this is due to poor ticket sales but I don't know for sure. The capacity of the room they are playing now is listed at about 950 people which is far less than The capacity of The warfield.

Heres the e-mail I received:

Reference: VENUE CHANGE

Hello, this is Ticketmaster Customer Service with an important alert for your upcoming event. The Sisters of Mercy scheduled at The Warfield on Wednesday, November 26th at 8pm has changed to a new venue. The event will now take place at The Grand Ballroom same time & date and will be general admission only. Original tickets will be honored for the new date, or you may obtain a refund by mailing your tickets to:

Please make a copy of the tickets, for your own records, before returning the physical tickets in the mail. you know it's interesting. I've been to the Warfield many times, and I remember thinking: "Wow, The Sisters can still draw enough for a Warfield gig in 2008 with no album for 17+ years. Amazing."

Actually I think the capacity is more in the 700-750 range at the new venue. Sounds like dismal ticket sales to me! Well if it's that bad we'll be out front early handing out reptiel House postcards and stickers! Haha

- i know for a fact that tickets sales are low for the LA/OC shows,
cause they have been giving out assloads of tickets at nightclubs

They've also started giving away tickets here in SF

Ive been talking to a lot of people who were very disappointed by the 2006 show so they aren't going this year.

(oh yeah, greetings, delurkings, etc. some of you probably know me from dominion)

Anyhow, for what it's worth: if somebody doesn't 'fork out' for tickets...shows can get canceled. Which is worse - paying when somebody else got in free or not having a show to go to? :(

Wow, less than a thousand people? I looked at capacity for the Grand Ballroom and thought it was about the same as the Warfield. Maybe I was looking at the wrong room.

I was planning to show up around 4, but that is probably overkill, isn't it? I remember I got there at about noon for the Maritime show back in 98 and I was alone until well into the evening. Well, except for a disturbingly friendly sailor who had never heard of TSOM but still waited with me for far longer than I wanted him to...

its a little confusing but I'm assuming they will use the "theatre" configuration which has a listed capacity of 1300. The Warfield is about 2300

Id say so..even if you're planning on planting yourself on the barrier the moment the doors open, you don't need to get there much before they open.

Not having a show to go to ... we are flying from London to see this one. Cancellation is not an option!!

Can anyone tell me how close the 2 venues are - I've not had time to look into this one. We booked our hotel so that we could walk down to the Warfield. 8) :roll:

It would have to really, really suck for me not to have a fabulous time. Like, throwing feces on the audience AND not singing kind of suck. I know how bad the sound can be and I can compensate by replaying the tracks in my head if need be. This will be the first concert I've been to since...well, since I last saw the sisters of mercy in 1999. (I missed 2006 because I had just finished giving birth, damn it.)

Thank you for the welcome and for the Blackadder reference, lol. I think I've actually signed up here before, or maybe I'm thinking of Dominion. I don't usually try to learn too much about the shows beforehand because it takes some of the mystique away, doesn't it? Oh well, my self-control is poor because I'm just so excited!

And, sadly, Regency and the Warfield are not very close. I was planning to take BART in, but now I'm not sure what to do... Good to know that I don't need to show up in the morning to get a place in front. I've felt rather silly the last few times. :)

Its 8-9 blocks. North on Taylor (away from Market/towards Geary). Left on Sutter. Its at Sutter & Van Ness
