if adam has left, and chris & mike are "on rotation" (albeit with a heavy bias towards chris of late) who will be "the sisters" for this current round of dates, assuming they are legit?
i'm tempted to believe the dates are real - the latest belgian one seems too big and too cool to NOT be true. i mean.. the stooges fer chrissakes!!
so, who's it gonna be? andrew, mike AND chris?
or is it all up in the air and can we expect the new lineup to include a bass player, 2 guitarists, a drummer and a keyboard player?
waddya reckon. as with footy managers, who's available?
and on a further note, if adam has left (as sources close to the man himself indicate) will he have taken his songs with him? von doesnt do many songs these days that hussey wrote does he? will he do the same thing with adam? or was the parting amicable and will adam have given over the rights to the tunes?
confused? you will be! right after i've walked the dog
(i love "soap"!)
so... who's in the band now then?
Maybe he's asked that Leeds band (when you almost bumped into him) to be his backing group, a la "Under The Gun" on Peter's Pop Show or a "Justin Sullivan and friends"?
Maybe he's been away for so long as he's got a brand new band, and they've been doing lots of rehearsing?
I thought songs performed live can't be copyrighted (only if they're recorded for commercial release) so Adam's tunes will be played?

i was thinking more a case of goodwill than copyright.
i dont know the circumstances of adam's alleged departure: who's choice it was, etc, but if adam left and von felt he had dropped him in it then maybe there's some ill will?
who knows. adam has been in the band longer than anyone except von & the dok...
i'm interested to see how this all takes shape.
i reckon the festie offers came through and it was something he couldnt refuse, so will have called in a few favours.
whats that chap from cassandra complex he used to know? what does he do? guitars? or is it computers and synths...?
i half expect to see some old "faces" from the leeds scene co(not ex-members though!)

(Give It a Name) Susanne was, in part, Mike's work, no? That has been played since 1999, including during the last tour in 2003. [As a side note, I had wondered if offering that song on the official website a few years back was, in part, a nod of thanks to Varjak. Perhaps with the hope of releasing it as a single at some point as Mike presumably would not be on an album. Who knows? ]
Similarly, Detonation Boulevard and Doctor Jeep have Andreas' name on them as well, and they have been making the rounds since his departure.
I doubt that Adam's departure will be a decisive factor in selecting a setlist.

Yeah, even if Adam had left / did leave, it's fairly likely he'll be up for a couple of shows. He probably likes going into a field and making a loud noise as much as Von. The band were as good as finished (and everyone knew it) in 92 before their stunning summer tour.
But hey, we could speculate all day. I for one would prefer to see Mr Pearson on stage with the band this summer, he's a corking guitarist who has by now most definitely become an integral part of the live shows.

has adam left then,
why's it not on the site,
i would have thought he would have insisted he was 'airbrushed' out of current things if he has moved on
the reason for the official release of suzanne was much more basic than a thanks to mike i'm afraid

Surely there is no official news on the site that a) Adam has left b) that these gigs have been confirmed. But it is good to see that there are promotors who *think* that they can afford the Sisters.
And oh yes, the M!ss!on are doing an extensive UK/European tour in September combined with a DVD release. One step ahead...

@ PIB: agreed, to me Adam seems a much more integral part of the Sisters than someone like Hussey, and he writes better tunes. Walk Away or Crash 'N' Burn... Hmmm... If he has gone I think it'll be a bit of a disaster really

I never thought that Mike was the main reason for the video clip. I assumed, primarily for a bit of promo and attention (of fans, labels, anyone, Bueller?) for the (then) upcoming tour. Was there another reason, especially for that particular song?paint it black wrote:the reason for the official release of suzanne was much more basic than a thanks to mike i'm afraid

Ain't that general knowledge? Or fact? And the only reason they put anything up at all was to entice (con) promoters for the Smoke & Mirrors tour.RobF wrote:I always thought that Adam didn't want to give any of his tunes away free, which is why we got Susie and nowt else
Where did I read all that? GPS? Dominion?

I don't give a f**k who else is there besides Our Fearless Leader.
Everyone post-VT has just been a session musician, IMHO. Sans sessions.
I'd almost be tempted to say everyone post-Patsy...

not 100% sure but a song can be copyrighted whether released or not. this can be done officially by registering copyright or simply by sending a tape recorded delivery and leaving unopened.Big Si wrote:I thought songs performed live can't be copyrighted (only if they're recorded for commercial release) so Adam's tunes will be played?
despite this, even if the songs are copyrighted, provided the live venue has a performance license (which they must!) then any song can be performed live anyway.
regards the said tracks, if eldritch has written the lyrics then he will be part-copyright holder and should be able to do with the tracks as he choose. though there are slightly different regulations between the lyrics and music, i believe the composition is treated as one. this is the reason some artists take exception to a cover of their song being released by another performer, but it is still released. as i said, not 100% sure on this but only 1 of the copyright-holders permission need be sought to cover their song.
to follow this principle in reverse i believe Hussey would be free to use Sisters material he has co-wrote, much to loathing no doubt of AE.
I'm sure many of you have noticed how the Mish song 'Into the Blue' ends exactly the same as the Sisters 'Walk Away'?
Similarly there is 'Marian' and 'Wasteland' - not heard the Sisters 'Garden of Delight' to comment how much of a Hussey track it is.
with Into the Blue i presume this was deliberately to get up the nose of AE, and leaving him powerless to act on it. Either that or Hussey really was running out of ideas...
I'm tempted to agree with you, with the exception of Tony James, he was a bit of a character.boudicca wrote:Everyone post-VT has just been a session musician, IMHO. Sans sessions.

What's the betting it's just Eldo & the Doktor and that's it.
Or just the Doktor, a tape, a cardboard cutout and a sh!tload of smoke.

If Adam has left the band there are two important questions that need to be answered:
1) The FALAA intro, will it be done properly?
2) Who is gonna snag the interview with Mr Pearson?

I don't think, the sisters-page is a relieable source these days.
