Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
Was there ever any reason given why Pearson didn't want his songs published or what his demands were? I've never seen any reason. My best guess would be that - considering that any post-97 Sisters records would have come out on Merciful Release - Pearson, who had an independent career doing music f...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
I'm literally a contract lawyer who worked for 27 years for a major record label. I promise you: you are extraordinarily incorrect in your assessment of how likely it is that he's still under contract. A contract isn't an eternal binding force field. They expire if you don't exercise your option to...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
The "Pearson said no " argument has been around for decades, but is it actually true? If Von wants to release them surely he can, he doesn't need anyone's permission, he just needs to credit them. If he wants to release a new version of "Jolene" as a single he doesn't ask Dolly ...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
They were a band relasing records. Conflict with record label. He went on strike. Couldnt relaease anything. SSV was not accepted. Conflict remains. Not possible to release anything (Suzanne Mp3 was removed very quickly from website) I believe its just as reasonable. No it's not, because it require...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
Like any conspiracy theory, you can explain away any discrepancy by another conspiracy theory. You have to explain why both Von and Warners would have kept this a secret; how they would have kept this secret over 27 years, without anyone spilling the beans; why Warners wouldn't have sued Von for non...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
My opinion (again unpopular) is that AE cannot release records (contract obligations etc) and his views are a way to camoflage this and still appear cool to all his fans (including me). https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/d8z1qwd62w05z9swg9uoh/von.png?rlkey=er8yh3d40odro7xk260hx5gbh&st=zkch810q&...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
The Sisters *have* reached new heights in modern days. The post-2019 songs are as good as anything they've ever done. And that's what Von is interested in. I take you back to Von's interview with Bowie, 1995 (paraphrased): VON: David, I love you but your new album sucks. Why is that? BOWIE: Well, li...

Re: Dylan Smith
Well he did watch them from the side of the stage at Mera Luna the other year, before playing with the Sisters. So he's obviously mates with them and a fan of the band. I doubt he's trying to do any stirring / winding up, I doubt he'd be that lame. So do I - but I don't doubt that Huss-bag would be...

Re: The March Violets...
Honestly, am I the only one not impressed by the new stuff? Mainly because Rosie, although she rules, seems now to be sole lead vocalist, the bass player only taking vox on the oldies. The whole point of the MVs for me was the dual lead vox (except for the rather embarrassing John Hughes movie era)

Welp, straight from the horse's mouth on Facebook! Rosie and Tom confirm that "Radiant Boys" was recorded at the same time as the tracks on the first Merciful Release single, but not included on the single "because we were bonkers" (Tom), and not released until the _Natural Histo...

Re: The March Violets...
I am going to make a wild guess, considering that "Radiant Boys" is first on _Play Loud Play Purple_ (the complete singles): that it might have been released as a "video-only" promo clip before they did their Merciful Release singles. Should I ask the actual band? I follow Rosie ...

Nah, it's not the same version as the Peel Session track.
I remember in the lead-up to _Made Glorious_, Si and the crew were going on about "we never did a proper album before".

Yeah, but that's a compilation album, is my point. I was trying to find out if it was on a single/EP release before then.eastmidswhizzkid wrote: ↑08 Jul 2024, 14:11 its on Natural History their first album, the one with Grooving in Green & Snake Dance on.

Re: Dylan Smith
I know nothing about this band apart from this thread and Wikipedia, but... did they have the same thing happen to them as TSOM? Like, they started a tour with a guitarist and then he "vaporized" for whatever reason?

Re: The March Violets...
Trainspotting question here. Was "Radiant Boys" ever released on an actual record before it started appearing on compilations? Discogs say it wasn't on any of their MR or Rebirth singles. Seems strange if not seeing that there's a promo vid for it

I know TSOM covered them, but I don't think Pink Floyd deserve to be called a key goth acttimsinister wrote: ↑26 Jun 2024, 15:26 I saw that article as well! What an accolade. Three key g*** acts in the list, proud times.

Re: Still in love with Still
Adam Pearson was a great songwriter (I agree about Summer, C&B, Romeo Down, possibly War on Drugs being stone classics) but I honestly think that - if you think that Von's stubbornness has sadly curtailed TSOM's possibilities of success - that probably goes double for Pearson. Von gets the blame...

Re: Tim Bricheno interview
To hear Tim tell it, he's perhaps more on it than Tony James, who seems to have played just enough for Von to sample him and get the Doktor to play most tracks
But in any case the bulk of VT's performances are Von, Andreas and John Perry
