Re: Best band(s) you have seen live and why?

The Cure - Bradford St George's Hall '92, the only time I saw them in a small venue. This was a warm up before a series of mega gigs. They blew the place apart and 'friends' on their crew got us backstage for drinkies. I managed 4 of those warm ups - Liverpool, Notts, Cambridge & Kilburn. That was ...

Re: Best band(s) you have seen live and why?

Faith No More's comeback show at Brixton 2009. Came out to a Peaches and Herb cover and then went straight into The Real Thing - the surge in the crowd was just overwhelming, all the space and oxygen was just crushed long before the first riff came in. Haven't experienced that since. Curve, last nig...

Re: Worst band you have seen live and why?

Blondie in 99 and Stone Roses around Second Coming era - they literally got stools out for an acoustic section...
Tricky's Maxinquaye gig in 2010 was a shocker - so bad I couldnt leave, it defies description.
The f**king Horrors, any time they get added as support for something I like.

Everyone has a soft spot for Bat, don't they?
I heartily recommend hearing Holding Out For A Hero on the largest sound system you can, the drums are insanely good.

Re: Gift reissue plus extras

Matches what Wayne was saying in his book about switching the songwriting credits for Blood Money and B&S - I got the impression he still sees the occasional tuppence for that. (although not the mega millions that B&S generates!)

Re: Gift reissue plus extras

I thought he sold the master rights, not the publishing rights? So he has no control over what gets re-released but he does get still get the publishing income as songwriter which would include physical releases, streams etc.

Re: RSD BBC Sessions release

I think BBC Worldwide own the sessions/live recordings outright so Warner would have agreed a fee to license this release, presumably limited to 4000 copies.

Re: RSD BBC Sessions release

I thought no-one knew who actually owned the rights due to missing/not signed paper work. Whereas the approach these days seems to be if you have the tapes then f**k it, release it and see if anyone complains ;)

Re: All about that bass

I've gone down a little YouTube rabbit hole listening to gigs from this era, and for the life of me, I can't hear ANY keyboards in the mix. Like, they're all low quality bootlegs - I'm not aware of any high quality recordings from this time, but what exactly was Dan Donovan playing? The obvious key...

I tried a bunch of filters but didn't come up with a combination that made it any more listenable - the more you remove and compress, the more digital squonk you introduce. Interviewer and Trish were perfectly ok but the usual suspect remained inaudible...
