Re: Live TV Appearences

There's an old anecdote about John Peel in conversation with one of his Radio 1 colleagues where Peely mentions buying records and said colleague reacting as though he had a welly on his head: "You actually buy records? Why? They send them to us..." Great anecdote I recall reading that on the Peel ...

Re: Live TV Appearences

I believe that's Steve Wright who is a radio personality in Great Britain . I'm not wrong in thinking that he made this his record of the week on the Radio 1 show back in 1992. I was sitting on my school bus when I heard it played.

Re: Live TV Appearences

There used to be an 'overnight' TV Show on UK ITV back in the 90's called "The Beat". That was a mix of Live Footage from the Major Festivals and Live In the Studio. They Mimed...... https://youtu.be/pJS2cZxtaLw For all its awfulness this is just brilliant. Andreas playing the keyboard part o...

Re: Sisters spotting

Ta @mh for the pointer. I was thinking back to the early 80's and I have a recollection of rocky/punky nights at Scrumpies, which was a dive of a place underground close to X Clothes (then), Five Guys (now) and the Corn Exchange. In those days pre-Brannigan's we would take visitors from out of town...

Re: Live TV Appearences

Is the only live TV performance by The Sisters - in any incarnation - The Old Grey Whistle Test from 85?? I was looking on youtube but couldn't find anything beyond mimed sets. In fact I think the only time I've seen The Sisters live on telly is either the OGWT or a broadcast of Wake. There was the...

Last argument of kings by Joe Abercrombie , the first law books are terrific :D
They sure are, along with Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard series and Richard Morgans A Land Fit for Heroes trilogy. All of Abercrombies subsequent work has been fantastic too.

The Smirking Revenge...

Found this on YouTube, it's worth watching for the gig clips and photo's alone. It's kind of accurate but has a few amusing typo's. It's Left on m*****n, not Left for m*****n of course and I'm pretty sure the very small sound clips are to avoid paying someone somewhere down the line, overall it's ok...

Re: Re-re-run of currently watching

A classic! with a brilliant cast and a soundtrack to die for. As well as The Cramps in THAT bar scene you also get a fantastic Tangerine Dream score. RIP Bill Paxton. Not a single mention of the word vampire in the whole film, and the detail was great. A throwaway remark, "Hey Jessie, remember that ...

Re: Newly declassified Tsar Bomba footage

Apparently the parachute borked the Soviet nylon industry. Perhaps this says more about the state of that industry than the size of the parachute. There's an old CIA saying that the Russians would be unable to smuggle a suitcase nuke into the US because they would be unable to construct a functioni...

Re: Mental Health

That's key, I think - having a team of people who can get an understanding of the individual's condition, rather than adopting a "well, this dosage of this drug works for those people, so it will work for you" approach. I was reading something a while ago where there was an effort to understand the...
