PS I'm listening to that Roskilde boot on youtube this morning, and its f**king epic. Yes, you can hear the vocals properly, but also the attitude and swagger is epic. It sounds fresh and aggressive. Just amazing. The current live sound basically hasn't changed in a decade. I think it's too polished...

Yeah, the deteriorating voice thing is a red herring - that's a reason not to tour, rather than not to record. All sorts of fun and games can happen in a recording booth. Plenty of notably s**t singers manage to put out convincing recorded music - just look at Bernard Sumner of New Order. God bless ...

Just pledged. Not a huge fan of the early years of the sisters, but a big fan of passion and enthusiasm so it would feel wrong not to support this.

I think that, through the law of diminishing returns, we can see the audiences for a proper UK tour being measured in hundreds rather than thousands in the venues picked with the promoters. It might be different for a significant one-off with a supporting cast. Otherwise business as usual and I'll ...

no, its pretty much s**t promoters not being prepared to take another gamble so soon after the last without new product. thats been the official line for fucken' ages now i'm afraid. You'd think full gigs wouldn't represent much of a gamble. In my memory they were pretty full, Dublin in particular....

They skipped Dublin and Belfast on the last tour, but came the tour before, so I reckon we're due an Irish date next time around. I went to both gigs and they were both packed. I was surprised they didn't come back last time on the back of that, but I suppose it needs a promoter to ask them. Maybe t...

I passed him walking through Dublin many years ago. He was in town for a gig. Like others, I didn't stop him because, well, why? I respect he has a stage persona and goes to a fair degree of effort to guard his privacy. That's fair enough.

Lisa Cuthbert

So, there have been five or six gigs/appearances by Lisa Cuthbert with the Sisters? What do you guys think? I'm really enjoying her contributions. Her backing vocals really add something to the mix, and the stage looks more . . . proper, with a fourth person up front. Three guys and a laptop at the ...

Just on the off chance this forum carries any weight, I too would love to hear a new album. I'd settle for a properly recorded live album to be honest.

Who am I kidding. I'd settle for ANYTHING.

Let's not be hasty. The Sisters of Mercy are a going concern. They're selling out respectable venues around Europe on an annual basis. The reality is that if they weren't a good live act, they wouldn't be doing that. They do and they are. The frustration stems from the idea that they were stellar an...

I think basically the issue is that Andrew managed the extremely cool trick of building a career for himself as a singer despite not really being able to sing. The uniqueness of his baritone was his distinguishing feature as a younger man, and The Sisters were part of that punk anyone-can-do-it move...

That sounds fantastic. They really should employ Lisa as a gigging member of the band. They obviously get on well with her, and the stage set up just looks right with a fourth person out front. She's also a talented musician in her own right, so you never know, if they ever did get around to laying ...

I love the Sisters, and have no hankering after some return to 1983 - I like the guitar driven sound and bombast of the current incarnation. but . . . . I think they need new songs. I preferred it when a tour came along and they would try out new material. Some worked better than others, but it was ...

On the plus side, some work appears to have been done on the Sister's Spotify page. Last week sometime, the file for Temple of Love 92 was overwritten by the original 1983 version. I noticed it when a playlist I had going suddenly replaced the 'new' version with the old. For a few weeks, the 'new' v...

I asked Mr Catalyst about this on Twitter this morning. The exchange went like this: Me: "Morning. You guys have anything to do with a box set rerelease of FL&A being discussed online? Presumably not?" Him: "Of course not. This is the record company bumming you once again." I...

I briefly met Ben on Tuesday night and said to him that I just had to ask them to record. Anything - doesn't matter what, just record. I then apologized saying, "you must get that all the time. I'm sure you're fed up with people asking." His reply was "Not at all. We're fed up asking ...

Pretty good show last night - not as good as Belfast, but still really enjoyable. The venue was pretty rammed, which is great as it means that between Belfast and Dublin, the odds are they'll be back. As always, obscene quantities of dry ice -- the fire alarms went off three times -- and the same se...

Absolutely epic show. By far the best of the three or four I've seen. Loud, clear, powerful and a crowd that was totally up for it.

Looking forward to Dublin tonight.

Now, with that light show, Von is not in a position to be pissed about pointing lasers at someone I think!

IZ.
Fair enough.
