I was actually trying to work out yesterday why I've always skipped "Possession" when playing FALAA. I think it's the intro. I'm a sucker for a good intro and the intro to "Possession" is rubbish . Once you get past that, the song itself isn't as bad as I've always convinced myse...

now: i'm not saying it was a fashion-thing (more likely it's a stage a lot of bands go through in their developement) but when VT came out (and by that i mean the late '80/90s) , it seemed a lot of people were bringing out "metal" albums distinct from their "regular" (previous r...

<slight derail> Strange Times is my most played Chams album, I wouldn't say it shared any similarities to FALAA in production or style, next up I'd go for What does Anything Mean, Basically (my most enduring Chams album), I find the production on Script of the Bridge a bit sparse and gloomy and exp...

Nine While Nine and possibly Walk Away? (keyboards/synths that is).
I mean on the NTTC b-sides.
There's definitely bass on Bury Me Deep. Whether it's synth or otherwise, I couldn't say.

!!!!! I was at Liverpool Uni very late 80s / early 90s and I loved the Planet, even if it did have the most horrible toilets imaginable and you didn't dare risk sitting on the ultra-sticky floor for fear of sections of your clothing remaining there after you got up  Great memories of the place....

Ha! That's a great line - although it sounds rather more like a description of Carl McCoy's vocal style!

I remember being intrigued by the Sisters long before I actually heard them. It was around June or July 1984 and I was an avid reader of fortnightly pop bible Smash Hits, although I was starting to dip my toes into "weird" stuff like the Cure and Siouxsie - i.e. the sort of "weird&quo...

Thanks for all this info, everyone! I'm learning a lot of new stuff here I'd often wondered about. I never got to see this line-up of the band (with typically impeccable timing, I got into the Sisters around 1986!) and always wish they'd soldiered on in that form for a bit longer, if only because th...

Thanks for the link, Syberberg. and thanks for the welcome. Nice to be here! That's an unusually candid interview with him there, although I'm still none the wiser about whether he planned the split lol. Yeah, I think the Albert Hall gig was indeed billed as Altamont: A Festival of Remembrance, stuf...

The 1985 split

In a Melody Maker interview around the time of Floodland, Eldritch claimed that he titled the Albert Hall gig "Wake" some time before it actually happened "and the others are still probably wondering why" (I don't have the copy to hand so I'm paraphrasing there). In this light, t...
