Re: The Quietus podcast reappraising Floodland

Vision Thing hit the record stores as musical tastes in the UK and beyond were taking a huge left turn. To my ears it was Von's attempt to grab the American dollar with a hair metal/rawk pastiche. However, here we went baggie and the Yanks went grunge and the album flopped into the chasm between. I...

Maybe Jamaica, Queens, NYC? Ahhhh.....it makes sense now  :D Damn you and your making sense! (shakes fist at sky) ;D Once got DHL to deliver a parcel from Dublin to Derry. It went of course to Derby then somehow to Brussels where it caused a security alert. They thought it was a bomb!

Derry's in lockdown from today. Apparently we're the third highest infection rate in the UK. It doesn't surprise me. We've never been good at sticking to rules up here...

Laws that keep civilization from falling: Don't use teabags. Don't put milk in tea. Don't dunk anything in said milkless tea. We really should have a Tea Police. I almost wrote we really should have a Tea Party but realised that didn't turn out very well in the US.

Ordered my third Jesus shirt. They keep getting worn to pieces plus a 2017 shirt which I never bought at the time for some reason. If we are requesting clothing... How about the Vision Thing lyric shirt and the Andy Warhol cross shirt please! I need new ones! :notworthy:

to be honest i cant remember them or how they sounded so i'm going to guess at "indie/shoegazers" . BUT i know they played Reading on the same day as the Sister. and even though i dont actually remember seeing them that day (thus backing up my guess that they couldn't have been my cup of tea) my 19...

I don't know about Morrissey but Johnny Marr was really complimentary about the Sisters. Mind you, Johnny Marr is a really nice guy but I think he meant it.

Can't help with the set list here, but I'm 95% certain this gig was a Friday, not a Monday. I'll come back on and apologise if I'm wrong. A night spent in Sheffield bus station is not something I'd recommend to any gig-goer, however battle hardened Sheffield train station was no better! Absolutely....

So when will you feel comfortable going to gigs again? Must admit I think going to anything this side of Christmas is a mistake and that (sadly) includes the pub where social distancing is difficult or impossible. How do you social distance in a gig?

I work (as some of you good people may now) in the arts in Derry and am self employed. As the Republic is in lockdown and every arts organisation up here postponing or cancelling things, most of my projects have just stopped dead. Inevitable sadly. Maybe they'll throw in an extra UK (or even Irish!) date around the rescheduled ones. Or I might even save the pennies to see them somewhere nice. I do have an Irish passport, so no visas or queuing! ;D
