Re: Totally Insane fb

I still remember the guide for new students when I arrived in Leeds in 1990 warning us off all the "proper Leeds" Leeds pubs. "Don't go in there with your long mac and your CND badge." It really was a different time. Huddersfield was the same except there weren't that many student pubs! I was...

Re: Totally Insane fb

I remember the good old days when if you rocked up in leeds in a Man United shirt you got your head kicked in, and even if you didn't and just rocked up in Leeds, probability was youd get your head kicked in leaving the station. Fun times. The Banshee, phono, planet x... All dives in hindsight, but...

It's the 'you can't be a proper goth because....' from people old enough to know better that irk me. Hmmm. I wonder now you've said that, if the person I was interacting with thought that I meant "you can't be a goth if you like the smiths". It would be a fair accusation of "elitism" if someone sai...

Re: Totally Insane fb

It's the nothing was good after 1985 (or 83 even) thing that tends to get me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it's not gospel. Also there a few that still take the Sisters / m*****n thing far too seriously. I prefer this place. We usually stay on the right side of sanity. Except for those ...

If memory serves me right Me Donovan was at Wembley indeed. It wasn't my fav gig though. I always thought the Sisters sounded better in slightly more enclosed spaces. Just my opinion though and given Von's love of festivals he obviously wouldn't agree!

Re: COVID-19 coronavirus

Had first dose of AZ vaccine a couple of hours ago. No side effects yet (but I suspect they'll turn up tomorrow if I do get any), still running Linux on the desktop. Got mine on Monday. Got a fluish fever, chills and aches but only lasted a day or so. And Bill Gates probably knows where I live. 😉

Indeed. I never saw the point of Vanilla. There was for a while a strawberry version of them. Which tasted weird. Probably because we are all used to vanilla. Which could be a metaphor for existence.

Figure I'll get me tickets then if it's cancelled or moved to later in the year at least I'll have tickets. If it's not and things are much better in the world and I'm vaccinated I'll be there or will at least be able to have spare tickets if I'm not vaccinated in time. Normally I would book flights...

Re: NEW NEW SONG (On the Beach)

I ve found that very few artists can publish lyrics and make them stand alone poetry without having music...exceptions to this are Leonard Cohen (no surspise), Nick Cave (sometimes) and Pet Shop Boys (surprisingly) , and some early SIsters, up to and including some of FLAA. (this is all very subjec...

Re: Phil Spector has died

It's that old (or relatively new) debate...do you separate the art from the artist? Quite a few of the great artists (in all forms) ranged from not very nice people to murderers and psychopaths. It's easier I guess if it's centuries ago.
