Sisters videos on MTV webstreaming

Last time I looked the MTV video service was locked to USA, but I just checked (for no particular reason) and found that the UK archive is no up to. The interesting thing for Sisters fans are pretty good quality videos of 'Black Planet' and 'Walk Away' Watch Eldritch drive Highway 101, i.e. the Paci...

Makes me drive my car very very fast on the motorway; especially when its late at night and the road is empty in a sodium haze.

Comic genius

didn't knew who is he but he's on Wikipedia - he must be famous. Writer and star of Spaced , Shaun of the Dead , etc and Scotty in the new Star Trek movie? I saw an interview with him in the past, and he confessed then to his pre-rave (i.e. Spaced) goth-ness; I had completely forgotten about that, ...

Slip of the keyboard ... and was influenced by The Telegraph article being open in adjacent Chrome window.

Robert Smith and Andrew Eldritch both 50. Wow, just, wow.

And you, OnlineSince1984 , how old are you and what do you think you'll be doing in ten years' time? :D 40 years old, blimey, hasn't that flown by. In ten years time I will still be online, like I was in 1984 and have been ever since. Prolly still listen to Sisters tunes occasionally. Still fancy p...

Turning 50: it's not all bad apparently ... but for how long

At least according to The Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/lifestyle/5201724/Turning-50-its-not-all-bad.html Bruno Brooks, Julie Birchill, Simon Le Bon, Kate Bush, Morrissey, Prince, Paul Weller, Madonna and Michael Jackson all turned 50 -- and so does Andrew Eldritch (if he hasn't already). Wil...

It does look brilliant, but it's the same sound mix. I just watched the HD clip on YouTube and on FaLaA the backing singers are louder than Eldritch as it was when I was there.

Still, might be interested in a purchase. :)

I am sure The Sisters would be in a game called Goth Band, along with The Cult et al.

Would be great!

Thanks for the video posts miprs4, they are great. Wow, the gig sounded so much better down there near the stage ... imagine how it was up in the standing area at the top!

tSoM and video games

tSoM site goes to a page spoofing Infocom games, and in the site Andrew also discusses his love of their textual adventures. http://www.thesistersofmercy.com/error404page.html Anyone know of any other gaming links with tSoM? I know the team at Odin Computer Graphics produced a game called Heartland ...

I wouldn't bother with it. Agreed, but once, back in the early days of the internet, before the WWW, it was the kind of place that tSoM fans met online. And one day, Chairman Bax of Bax Corp started posting to it, whoever they were. I once got 90 e-mails from Dominion and assumed that either someon...

Wow, pre- mass market ISP days by a couple of years!

So were you getting it through CompuServe, AOL, CIX, or through a university email account or suchlike? Or a BBS even?

1989? Nah! Most people couldn't even send email across service providers from AOL to CompuServe in those days, commercial internet didn't start in UK until Demon Internet launched it in 1992.

I remember it was mid-90s, maybe it was early-90s?

Signed vinyl covers

I've got plenty of signed vinyl covers, but only ever two or three of The Sisters and never the entire band.

Was this a policy -- as per U2 -- or was this simply because it was difficult to get all of them? I can't remember much of the 1980s, or early 1990s to be fair. :innocent:

Woz it the PA system wot dun it?

As I said, I am sure the band's performance was great ... it's just a shame that I couldn't hear it. So I've spoken to a couple of musicians since who reckon the fault could lie with the PA system at the venue. Von and his crew may have been saving a couple of quid by using the PA of The HMV Forum, ...

I don't understand how people could diss the band itself. Chris is a breath of fresh air and the best guitarist I think The isters have had. But the sound on Thursday was not great : not enough geetars, not enough vocals. Pretty much sums up my thoughts entirely. I don't think it's dripping vitriol...

Don't defend the indefensible

This thread is interesting reading, but I cannot believe anyone thought the London show sounded good; it might not be "as bad as gig X by tSoM" but holy heck that is no benchmark. Okay, one of my friends last saw The Sisters play live in 1983 or 1984 he couldn't remember which, but had bee...

Just looked above and saw that support band were Goldblade , which is funny because one of my friends (who was a guitar player in a Manchester band of the 1980s) said "Is that Goldblade? If it is I know the singer!" We still left early though, as trying to listen to The Sisters was a waste...

Awful sound mix

_emma_ you could've bought tickets from the dozens of ticket touts outside the tube station or the event, if you really wanted to go. I went, I walked out; and was surprised to find a large group of people outside who had also walked out too. Moreover, on the tube there were quite a few people who'd...
