Re: 2021-09-10, Roundhouse, London UK

Well, he was in a good mood wasn't he? That was my first time seeing the Girls in this latest iteration, newest guitarist seems like a good fit. A couple of surprises in the set for me, I Was Wrong was quite lovely, as was Never Land. A solid version of Dominion too. I quite liked some of the (new) ...

I'm passing this time. Having seen the Nephs twice, in 2011 and 2017 they were frustratingly average both times. Sound was dire both times, at the Forum 2017 it was fantastic to see Tony Pettit back on bass - and Darkcell and Vet being in the setlist were nice suprises - but whoever else is in the b...

I'd answer yes. Though in a world of fakes, being so single minded and having your own clear vision can be a detriment. In the same way that always speaking the truth regardless of if it hurts does not always make one popular. "I can love my fellow man but I'm damned if I'll love yours" Wo...

First Hellfest, now Wacken? What's going on  is the only way to see The Sisters in 2019 to go to a hugely overrated, overpriced mainstream Euro metal fest?

I. Like many of them, I'm forced to conclude that :von: just doesn't have the swagger and arrogant self-belief he used to and is/was afraid of newly released material being critically panned. This. And not just critically panned, more him knowing deep down it just wasn't as good. whether it's the s...

On this day, the Royal Albert Hall gig.

Was anyone here actually there? Care to share any memories? "Wake" is probably my favourite concert film ever.

I found a copy of the manual https://archive.org/details/BossDR55OwnersManual Looks like it has an aux output you should be able to plug into a mixer and/or a hi-fi. It's a very primitive machine even by the standards of the later 80s, never mind today, but that's the charm with this stuff. I bet it...

I caught Chameleonsvox in London on Saturday, second time seeing them (last was 4 yrs ago) and second time seeing them do Script of the Bridge in full. I hadn't heard some of those tunes, or even thought about the Chameleons much actually, in ages but still knew all the words. Really good show. Ver...

2019 - no new album

2020 - global nuclear war. Von puts out the album, titled "Told You So", but we're all dead so nobody cares.

Self-releasing albums is the norm these days. I've done/been involved with two myself. No there's not a lot of money in it, but I'm not The Sisters of Mercy, it's all relative. There's no reason why it wouldn't have been picked up by a capable indie label either. Von's right about the music industry...

While watching this ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpBLKzHSQa4&lc=z23bjtii2rurcfoa504t1aokgaio3ouw40amxye0pktxbk0h00410 ) fantastic recording of Roskilde 1998, in particular a lovely version of Suzanne, I'm wondering... Just what on earth happened to stop those tracks being released? It looks...

"You say stay and never leave, you say meant forever" - but she doesn't. Relationships are transient by design. "I could believe you but I don't" - inside, he gets it. He's done maintaining the illusion. "You say you will, I know you won't" - of course not  "...

Sorry for the necro, but there are days I think this is genuinely the best thing Eldritch ever did. For me the CD version with the full keyboard intro is the best, the LP version feels neutered in comparison. "Like brittle things will break before they turn" - never quite gotten over how p...

I had a great time at The Roundhouse last year, be quite up for round two this year. Or maybe a First and Last and Always tour as unlikely as that is  tell Craig I'll play bass if he can't be bothered.

Actually, tell The Sisters I'll play bass period. Make Flood II Great Again!

Are there any good VT-era soundboard recordings I should know about?
