The Sisters of Murphy at Flock! last night

Last night's Smurphs gig at Flock! was ace.

But did anyone notice that the most popular songs were the cover versions? Or covers of covers, if you know what I mean.

Jolene was a treat, but highlight of the night was Good Things.

Good times.

I've just Rashoman. Not quite the book of the film, more the stories used in the film. Wonderful stuff, especially The Martyr.

Lizzie and The Banshees

Last night I saw Lizzie and The Banshees, a tribute act devoted to, well, you can probably guess. They were brilliant, they did a wide range of Banshees material, and Lizzie looks A LOT like Ms Sioux, and has obviously paid close attention to the Nocture video to get the moves right. If you get the ...

This looks almost too good to be true, friends have already bought them but I'm waiting until nearer the time before I buy tickets. 50,000 does seem like quite an ambitious figure, I hope they can pull it off. Didn't Sonisphere collapse due to poor sales and they had KISS and The Neph (not musically...

I saw them a long time ago at a free festival and their sound was awful. They could have been playing Mozart for all I could tell.

The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter A fantastic song, and for me the Stones at their creative peak. I could, and have, listened to it for hours. Fields of The Nephilim - Preacher Man So many good memories of dancing to this that I'd never feel lonely. Lalo Schifrin's theme to The Taking of The Pelham...

My wife and I are currently watching some Dickens adaptations that we borrowed on video (!) from my mother in law. The Pickwick Papers was ace, funny and sad in equal measure, and now we're watching David Copperfield with Arthur Lowe as Mr Micawber. Whenever he's on screen we shout "don't tell ...

World's End

No, I'm not here because I saw Simon Pegg be (cough) hilarious in The World's End, I find him as tedious as ploughing in the rain. As such I haven't seen his film (or any since Hot Fuzz, which wasn't as funny as getting my toes broken by a prize bull), but I am interested to know if any Sisters musi...

I'm with Hom, right up to Green they were great. Once they signed to a major label they lost it, and everything else was dire.

They have been ruined, though, by the use of Everybody Hurts as a mass sobathon soundtrack after the death of Princess Diana. No band could recover from that.

Hello, I'm new here...

Hello all, I'm new here. My name is Cia and I've been a Sisters fan for aeons. I've often visited this forum for news of (cough) a new (cough) record, but mostly for gig details. It's a great site, so I've taken the plunge and joined. I'm only a member of one other forum - the terrible New Gold Dawn...
