Apple lossless

For any Apple Music users, it looks like most of the Sisters back catalogue has been upgraded to lossless.

My ears can't hear much of a difference, but there you go.

Re: A Sisters Tribute album?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6m8G6Eb91Xg Covers of Sisters' songs tend to be dreadful, but I quite like this one. Yeah, I like this one too. I think anyone who does a straight cover of a Sisters song is generally on to a loser. The best one by far that I've ever heard is Lambchop's This Corrosio...

Re: A Sisters Tribute album?

Sisters covers require originality. Nobody should ever listen to my cover of giving ground. But I'm pretty proud of my version of Summer, as the best attempt two 16 year olds could do. https://youtu.be/1Zf7AUcwuUs I actually think that's pretty good. Quite listenable. Well done. Particularly if you...

Re: Gift reissue plus extras

I'd be surprised if Von sees any cash from anything that happens on a streaming platform or in a record shop. I think there's a reason that he's toured so relentlessly for the last 20 years and it's unlikely to be because he likes the buffet breakfasts in Travel Inns.

Re: Totally Insane fb

You guys just come off as very judgemental. Not trying to be confrontational, but just like... be aware of how you treat others, and why it is that you feel these people are lesser than you for enjoying the same thing but in a different way. Elitism isn't dead. Well, I'd hate anyone to feel hurt (a...

Re: RSD BBC Sessions release

Maybe this will be the inciting incident that will egg Von on to get the Gift reissue ball rolling again. Or maybe not, he can be a rather fickle fellow sometimes, can't he? Yeah, but he's usually fickle in a way that serves himself - touring when he wants and not when he doesn't, recording when he...

Re: RSD BBC Sessions release

Hey the facts are that any release is better than no release. It means that somebody somewhere thinks they can make a return on investment from The Sisters of Mercy. That's a positive thing in Sisters land. Of course, I'd prefer if it was done by the band themselves, but maybe it'll light a fire und...

Re: RSD BBC Sessions release

I think that basically unless a piece of news/release etc is on the main band website, it's safe to presume it's nothing to do with them. So unless something is posted about this, it's probably that this is just Warner further exploiting their legacy ownership of the material. But hey, at least that...

Re: RSD Peel Sessions release

Oh nice. That’s a good album cover. My decks are in the attic somewhere but I might still buy this.

Do you think Von had anything to do with this? Like, someone would have had to design that cover, and to do that they’d need to at least have a passing knowledge of the whole snake thing.

Re: All about that bass

I've gone down a little YouTube rabbit hole listening to gigs from this era, and for the life of me, I can't hear ANY keyboards in the mix. Like, they're all low quality bootlegs - I'm not aware of any high quality recordings from this time, but what exactly was Dan Donovan playing? The obvious keyb...

All about that bass

If you haven't heard it, check out this bootleg.

Good god. The bass intro on Lucretia. The fleshed out guitar sound. The power of ribbons

The variety of sound between tracks. For fucks sake, there's a keyboard player.

Re: John Robb Youtube interview with Chris Catalyst

I thought it was interesting that Chris implied heavily that when he joined, the job was represented to him as leading to recording etc, and that it just never materialised. That's interesting, as it implies WE weren't crazy to hope for it. It seems that in the early 2000s, Andrew really was thinkin...

John Robb Youtube interview with Chris Catalyst

This is really good. Probably the most informative and relaxed interview with Chris I've seen.

Quite a bit of Sisters content in here. A look behind the curtain.

John is an excellent interviewer.

Re: NEW SONGS!

Okay this is getting silly. What’s the point of a seemingly never ending list of song titles? Is he just trying to make a statement - “see, I can write songs!’ Or does he intend to actually perform 20 new songs in rotation? Actually, maybe that’s it? Maybe he intends to spend a few years touring the...

Right, negotiations with the wife completed. Gonna get tickets for the Sunday - if we're vaccinated and can travel from Ireland then, we'll go. If not, the tickets aren't so pricey that it'll hurt too much to miss it. (Noticed earlier that someone much from the band must have been in touch this morn...

Re: NEW NEW SONG (On the Beach)

that's not a song, it's a verse and maybe the lead in to a chorus if I'm being generous I just checked, and it fits in a single tweet. Not sure what that means, but yeah, it's short. Am I right in thinking that in some interview in the past he complained that he'd written songs in the past with too...
