Re: Happy Birthday Vision Thing - the Album
I realize it's heresy, but I agree with you... don't HATE FALAA, and I own it, but I rarely listen to it. It's interesting that while some kind of rough consensus exists for the other 2 LPs Everybody else thinks FALAA is nonsense turgid sub-bauhaus twaddle too? That surprises me. :innocent: :twisted...

Brilliant interview and I cackled aloud at this:
"if you think that Marvel is doing a terrible job of comic book films—which they are—this film is for you"

Loved the hell out of both Barbie and Oppenheimer. Also REALLY enjoyed the remastered IMAX showing of STOP MAKING SENSE, which is stunning in its sound and clarity.

My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult were f**king aces. They are starting up another leg of their tour and I highly recommend it, if they come to your town. Setlist was mostly the first two albums and 13 Above The Night. oh, and now we have Love & Rockets on the 20th of this month. Then we're done ...

Steven Pressfield’s Gates of Fire . Given my interests it’s something that’s been on my radar for almost two decades. It’s shameful that I’m only getting round to it now. It’s good so far. Pressfield is so great, THE WAR OF ART is one of my favorite books of all time... I have Gates Of Fire on my b...

Re: Great albums with rubbish cover art
First - RE: Floodland - I f**king love that cover! Second, there are SO MANY ALBUMS that are great that I slept on because the cover was so abysmal... Huge Jethro Tull fan since I was in primary school, but I refused to listen to this one until my 30s because the cover was so awful... (It's now one ...

Re: Read, read, read!!!! education, imagination, humour
Recommendations from the last month's reading... Joan Didion's THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING is just goddamn heartbreaking and brilliant. My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry by Fredrik Backman is a modern fable that has a HORRIBLE cover (so bad I refused to read it at first) but contains ...

It makes me very distraught that the "afterhours" shirt is not available in XL...
...I guess I'll have to console myself with the one that quotes "Here" and a silver badge pin.
This is my cross to bear.

Edit - addition… there was a couple of things very strange about last night I forgot to mention. The selling of popcorn at a rock gig! A new one on me - not sure it will catch on in the UK. The other was the guy I spotted carrying a tiny Yorkshire terrier dog! An emotional support dog? If that was ...

Re: 2023-05-23 Hollywood Palladium Los Angeles CA
Loved the show Hung out on the back wall for the duration, and thought the mix was good overall (especially given how bad the acoustics are in the Palladium). Jaw dropped when he said 'This is Arms'... Jaw bounced off the floor when they announced Terri Nunn. (f**k she sounded transcendent, and the ...

So, Eisner Award nominations came out today, and we got six nominations, with FOUR of those being for the Tori Amos: Little Earthquakes The Graphic Album book that I edited (with Margaret Atwood and David Mack getting a nod for 'best short story' in it). https://www.comic-con.org/eisner-awards-curre...

Re: 2023 set list: your hopes and fears?
I want bunches of the new stuff, some very old stuff (Valentine, I would kill for), and maybe just Ribbons from VT.
But man, I'd really love to have "Slept" in the mix, even though I know the odds are against it.
