I suspect there will be a few end of tour surprises.
My money is on a bagpipe solo on I Was Wrong.

Re: Kai as a permanent member
Necessity is the mother of invention. I’m impressed how the band have turned the tour around from firing their most creative stimulus in years and dealing with Von’s health challenges to finally finding a new live sound that really does justice to material new and old. They are resilient if nothing ...

Based on the clips I’ve been sent, yes there was more live saxophone. Sounded fantastic.

Don’t recall The Sisters covering When The Levee Breaks but Rosetta Stone definitely did (and released it) and it’s mighty fine!

Love Sandstorm. Indeed my personally curated edition of Floodland on my Apple Music opens with it and it flows nicely into Dominion. The running order remains “as is” but then closes with Never Land (full length), Untitled, Colours and Rain from Heaven. Touch left on the cutting room floor as doesn’...

Re: 2023 set list: your hopes and fears?
I’m not a massive fan of Doctor Jeep and have never understood why it gets such heavy rotation live, but it does seem to have some merit as a show opener given many attendees don’t spend their spare time researching the new material via YouTube.

Like it. Von definitely channelling his inner Leonard Cohen here. Which is a good thing.

Re: NEW SONGS!
There’s also the possibility in this day and age that a new release goes viral.
For example, When I’m on Fire could get picked up by a major sports broadcaster for use in some sort of tournament highlights reel and suddenly they’re back in the mainstream and streaming goes through the roof.

Romeo Down and Neverland would work well with one guitarist. As would a full length Afterhours but no chance of that!

Re: NEW SONGS!
Agree with all of the above but the thing I can’t reconcile is this. Von is an excellent song writer and a fine lyricist. He’s spent his entire life listening to the work of other artists (as well as reading and watching films). As an artist, he has a fine if unprolific track record - 3 quality albu...

I Will Call You really suffers from having only one guitar.
When I’m on Fire would make a better alternative opener in my opinion.

It would be interesting to see the printed set list. If Instrumental 86 was included it’s fair to assume they expected Dylan to appear.

Re: 2023-09-22 The Roundhouse, London, UK
The more I think about it the more I am concerned. If Dylan’s issues were purely technical why was he giving people the bird left right and centre? Why couldn’t the issues get sorted quickly? If it was Chris on the nurse is that a factor? I guess at least there is a plan B if this blows up which it ...

Yep Dylan was pissed off all night. Assume it was technical problems but to walk out during encores was a bit weird.
Great gig on the whole. Sound good. Von screwed up crash and burn but Ben rescued it.
Ravey Davey replaced by a nightclub bouncer what’s the story there?

Re: Instrumental/smoke break
I don’t dislike them - but let’s face it, their purpose is to afford a mid set cigarette break either outside or behind a speaker stack. I’d rather have an extended intro to a proper song. Driven like the snow, Rain from Heaven, Kiss the Carpet or Some Kind of Stranger would all be more than accepta...

Re: 2023 set list: your hopes and fears?
Fears for autumn 2023: more of the same - same basic set list template that was followed night in, night out in the US with minimum variation. Hopes: even 2 or 3 of the allegedly finished, unheard tracks would be lovely. And some high quality audience recordings to allow us to update our private arc...

Re: But Genevieve/ Don't Drive On Ice sharing a verse.
I suspect it’s Genevieve for whom the narrator called a car in I Will Call You. He then tells her “it’s time”, before tampering with the brakes in the truck she’s driving, causing the long slow carambolage. He’d thought about the jackknife but concluded drowning more fitting. Tying her body to the r...

Re: Your Hypothetical New Sisters Album Track List
Capping it at 12 tracks (which would in itself be a luxury!), and based on songs that feel finished, I’d go for: Don’t Drive On Ice Crash and Burn I Will Call You Show Me Eyes of Caligula Black Sail But Genevieve We Are The Sane, Suzanne On The Beach Here When I’m on Fire Romeo Down The other idea w...

Welcome to the Mumble
Looking at the various reviews of GnR at Glastonbury, I’d hate to think what the mainstream media would make of the sound quality and vocal audibility at a Sisters gig 😁 Shall we just agree it’s an acquired taste? 😙 https://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/concerts/guns-n-roses-glastonbury-festival-2023-re...

On the subject of Lucretia bass lines, am I alone in being underwhelmed by the current live arrangement?
The bass has gone from being the dominant instrument in the original to being very low in the mix.

A massive thank you for recording these - they may be the closest we get! Particularly liked DDOI, but most of all it’s helped me to appreciate how great On The Beach is. Didn’t get into it from the live recordings but it’s a real ear worm!

I suspect Dr. Avalanche hasn’t been fully programmed for Under the Gun live and to have done so would have required too much effort.

Disappointing set lists so far, but it’s not uncommon for the girls to vary very little for first few dates. Hoping for more variation as the tour progresses.
