Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
As a lay person I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. How viable/expensive was home recording during that era? Eldritch presumably already had decent equipment, plus was fairly computer savvy. Could he have created something approaching "commercial-quality" without studio time i...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
That idea Eldritch has been floating about "not definitive versions of the new songs", "evolving the music" and all that is b*llocks. You can go listen to the first time any of the unreleased tracks were performed live 20+ years ago, then go listen to whatever tour you want inbe...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
he is never satisfied with final recordings...mixes upon mixes finding faults that don't exist... at least live, you play it and it's done... with a recording, it's there in perpetuity to haunt you for the (supposed) failings I get that. Sometimes when I listen back to stuff I've played on, I wince...

I’ve always wondered why they denied it. Maybe because the TSOM version is so unarguably superior?longtimelurker wrote: ↑25 Jul 2024, 01:37
I remember reading that synchronization rights, if that's the right term, were required for video releases, and that the Rolling Stones refused for Gimme Shelter.

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
I've kind of made this comment before I think. I'm in academia, and I'm extremely lucky to be in a position where I can pursue whatever interests tickle my fancy, and I have absolutely zero pressure to publish. Really the only time I bother is when a friend comes to me and says 'hey, could you write...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
Burst of creativity came from Dylan's input. Did it though? Do we know for sure what actually happened, and in what sequence? To be clear, I'm not saying Dylan didn't trigger this and I'm not denigrating him or his contribution. I'm just making the point that correlation isn't the same as causation...

Re: Politics? Nah
I have no idea who is running the USA right now. To be fair, I never really thought Biden was in charge (his issues were apparent before he was elected), so practically speaking nothing has likely changed. But the fact that it's so blatantly obvious that the president is not actually in charge is co...

Which brings us to now - for one thing, he's probably missed the boat in terms of pushing the Sisters to new heights. The Gen Z kids aren't exactly clamoring for a Billie Eilish/Eldritch crossover... Do you think he'd even respond to Billie Eilish, or just ignore her like he did with Moby? Ignoring...

Re: What do you think really changed in Andrew's handling of the band/brand?
So: why do it? By which I mean: anything at all? Answer: only if it's worth it and if he feels like it. TSOM only holds any interest for him now in terms of (a) writing songs which have to be "up there" with the old stuff (and I'm VERY grateful for that); (b) performing live, which is for...

Whole album is fantastic really but this is on repeat: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sxz6RrzuR9w How am I just learning about this band now? … and they just broke up (technically Eugene quit the band but I think that’s basically the same thing). What an utter shame. Apparently have one more album i...

Re: Politics? Nah
There’s a lot of ugly political passions that have been loosed in the United States in the 21st century. Today was the outgrowth of that. Plenty of blame to go around of course. The problem is that neither party is capable of fostering a statesman capable of moderating those passions. So, errrrrrr… ...

Re: Politics? Nah
So here in the UK if a leader is particularly useless, like Boris for instance, his own party have a process that can replace him. Does this not happen in the US? Yeah, can't Trump's party say they don't want him as a candidate and throw him out? Or wouldn't they do that because they're all as corr...

I'll go : I'd like someone to explain to me in layman's terms why in a country of over 330 million human beings, the only candidates in the electoral race are a convicted criminal (who happens to be a pathological liar) and a frail octogenarian. In a democracy people get the kind of government they...

Fontains D.C. first time listened them on the radio driving a car, the latest single ( Starbuster ), I've found production, sound, and this lyrics. Then I started to dig. Superb stuff, lots of genres you know from the late 80's and 90's, and some post-punk but filtered and served in a unique way. A...

For drinking in that neck of the woods I've always liked McCoy's over on 9th (it's a dive where my granddad enjoyed a pint, as well as my dad when he worked in The City) or the Russian Vodka Room if you're feeling fancy.

I might try to do this one. I hate driving into Baltimore though.
Brewer's Art isn't far from the venue for people looking for drinks. And they're both pretty close to the MARC/Amtrak station.

This one's a maybe. The city has clearly changed since I moved away - there used to be almost nothing around there.
