I worked so much and so hard on this I am so so happy really. still a while before I get my degree cause the UK system is a bit complicated with this but I will be awarded soon enough. freaking fantas...

Re: Worst band you have seen live and why?

Lee mentioning the Captain reminded me of one of the times I've seen The Damned on a farewell tour; I think in the early 90s? But anyway Vanian hadn't showed up and they were obviously losing hope that he'd ever arrive. Captain came on stage and said "this one's called 'Happy Talk'" to a chorus of ...

Re: currently cutting a rug to

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbJmWCuMiEM My biggest music regrets: never seeing Concrete Blonde live, never seeing the Ramones, and missing out on Billy Joe Shaver's final tour. I never really got to see Motörhead either (I had tickets, but a massive pileup in Dallas meant I got to the venue jus...

Glad to hear it’s progressing. Despite pledging, I’ve not heard from them in over a year.

Re: Best band(s) you have seen live and why?

Not even a question for me: Einstürzende Neubauten, Bremen, 2018. Everything just kind of lined up for my wife and I to be able to spend a few days in Bremen before and after the show, so the entire trip was great, but seeing Neubauten live was simply wonderful. We had tickets to see them in Luxembo...

Re: Worst band you have seen live and why?

I saw the Reverend Horton Heat back in... 92, maybe? I was still in high school. They were opening for Frank Black I think. Jim Heath was also deep in his "gin and cocaine are my favorite foods" phase, and they were very, very bad. I've seen them a number of times since then, and they've always been...

Oh, he did Heartland too:

I'm actually listening to some of his other stuff and really quite enjoying it. He's got two EP's up on Bandcamp, but there's a lot more posted on youtube.

Re: A Sisters Tribute album?

Not a fan of the faux Johnny Cash / Hurt approach This is alright , should be rowdier tho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK0H1sfQtv4 That's a very blatant attempt to imitate the Pogues (at least until the heavy guitar comes in)! So yes, should definitely be rowdier. The vocalist is doing his best ...

Re: A Sisters Tribute album?

Hasn't at least half of this already been released? I know (or I think I know) I've heard a lot of that. I guess the Paradise Lost cover is tolerable, but from what I recall everything else is terrible . When it comes to Sisters' covers, the best ones that come to mind are Lambchop's cover of This C...

Re: Read, read, read!!!! education, imagination, humour

I've started to read Moby Dick few months ago. Wasn't that bad, but I hadn't finished, I think i'll come back to this book, one day. I think one of the genius things about it (and it took me a while to pick up on this) is the way the narrative reflects what life must actually be like on a whaling v...

Re: Read, read, read!!!! education, imagination, humour

I’ve been reading Melville’s Moby Dick, which I’ve never read before. I have to say that I am enjoying it much more than I expected, even the long digressions on cetacean physiology and physiognomy. I’ve also got to admit that it is much funnier than I ever would have guessed.

Re: NEW SONGS!

Actually, maybe that’s it? Maybe he intends to spend a few years touring the new songs without no intention of recording them? Pretty much the same as every year since 'Under The Gun' then. :D Honestly though, there's a degree of stubborn perversity to Von's approach to the whole thing that I find ...

Re: COVID-19 coronavirus

I may be wrong but I think the J&J is the only one (so far) that's single dose. I believe you are correct - I don't know about the non-mainstream ones (like SynoVax), but J&J is definitely 1-shot. I'm off to get mine tomorrow morning at stupid o'clock - they're running a 24-hour unit, daytime it's ...

I ended up getting the Johnson & Johnson one-shot, but it is absolutely kicking me around the block. Re: NEW NEW SONG (On the Beach)

I ve found that very few artists can publish lyrics and make them stand alone poetry without having music...exceptions to this are Leonard Cohen (no surspise), Nick Cave (sometimes) and Pet Shop Boys (surprisingly) , and some early SIsters, up to and including some of FLAA. (this is all very subjec...
