One reason to do it were doing a favour to those who've been awaiting some new release for so long.
Or just out of pleasure. The rest is tedious debates completely fallen out of time in these days , IMHO.
Norfolk 'n' chance then

Re: It was thirty years ago today...

The problem as I see it with the "ironic rock-god posturing" is this: If you f*ck a goat ironically, you're still f*cking a goat. :notworthy: I was going to point out that a sheep would be more appropriate for the 'fair' city of Leeds but I then remembered their time spent out east at the end of th...

You've got to love German TV, broadcasting an afternoon of NMA to celebrate their 40th anniversary.
And no mention whatsoever on BBC Look North or YTV Calendar. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Re: New Model Army 40th anniversary gig

They’ve clearly invested some money in this though. Whoever they have used for the live recording and streaming tech knows their stuff. It’s not a cheap operation so kudos to the band for investing in it. Hope they made a f**k tonne or cash for it. Id love to know just how many people they have str...

Enjoyed that.

Lovely to see No Pain return to the set and we had to turn it up to eleven for Vengeance.

Thanks to all for putting it on. Maybe Leeds can copy Bradford come February.

Re: But Genevieve

The last NMA Album got into the top 20 in UK... number 14? Did they make much money from it...I doubt it. But releasing records is an income as opposed to none. AE also knows damn well that there are thousands of Sisters fans that want to buy products instead of spotify.... why he does nt use this ...

Mine arrived at about 11am and positioned itself in my spam folder as predicted. So tonight it's mostly NMA on the big screen and LFC muted on the iPad.

Re: It was thirty years ago today...

I think I'm odd as WYDSM is the track I remember most from the album. On first listening it seemed the only one that had a hint of the arched eyebrow of the old lyrics.

Nowadays it's mainly Floodland or SGWBM that get played when the mood takes.

I always took the view that being childish was part of the whole point of it (the censorship), and that if anybody was taking it seriously, well, maybe they shouldn't.

We're far more likely to see more t-shirts and other merchandise as this is a far greater source of income nowadays for most bands.

Re: The Quietus podcast reappraising Floodland

Vision Thing hit the record stores as musical tastes in the UK and beyond were taking a huge left turn. To my ears it was Von's attempt to grab the American dollar with a hair metal/rawk pastiche. However, here we went baggie and the Yanks went grunge and the album flopped into the chasm between. I ...

They're just having "issues" locating a studio that can still accommodate the use of 8" floppy disks. No tittering at the back missus.
