Re: Book: Waiting For Another War
It's still amusing to think of the early 80's Faversham pub as the northern 'goth' centre. In those days it's main clientele was the students from the nearby Charles Morris Hall and it was like their student bar. 'Charlie Mo' was very much the rich kids hall and seemed to have an over representative...

I watched his documentary about the Pendle Witch trials recently. Very interesting. :notworthy: To get even further off topic, in 2019 my youngest and I drove over the hill, with a Polish friend, to see NMA at Clitheroe. We regaled her with tales of the Pendle Witches and totally destroyed her fait...

General Elliot, yeah, truly awful in days of yore. Back in the early 80's that corner of town was NF central. The pubs nearer the train station were Service Crew territory on Saturdays so we'd stay nearer the Uni. The George or the Vic were as close to town as you'd go before clubbing. What was the ...

I'm plagued by Office ads since jab #1 too. Being sad and of a certain age, I'm happy enough with Office '97 on my home laptop. It does what I want as techy report writing in Word or weird Q.A. audit database designing in Access is as elaborate as I get nowadays, so chill Bill.

I think your orange shirt bedazzled them, "it burns us", as an unkind soul muttered. With all due respect even the Duncan in recent years is nothing like as lively as the Scarborough in, say, 1983. And thankfully so. For the lucky observers who know none of the places mentioned. The Duncan is an.old...

As a Chelsea fan it's really very confusing quite liking watching Leeds at the moment. It's probably against the natural order of things. ;-) Yeah, we play Dirty Leeds at (H)Elland Rd on Monday. A low profile will be adopted from Sunday night as my neighbours and colleagues already have a certain g...

I remember the good old days when if you rocked up in leeds in a Man United shirt you got your head kicked in, and even if you didn't and just rocked up in Leeds, probability was youd get your head kicked in leaving the station. Fun times. The Banshee, phono, planet x... All dives in hindsight, but...

We saw Whitesnake support AC/DC there in 1980, I think. But the Whitesnake gigs at Liverpool Empire were the stuff of legend, was a great rock venue, shame it doesn't hold gigs nowadays, the Academy around the back is a poor substitute, though admittedly half the size. edit: sorry, it was 1981, same...

Yeah, the old 'b' side credit will be nowhere near as 'lucrative' as in days of yore. Amazing foresight by the devious overlord.
