Most of the google alerts I get for The Sisters Of Mercy are about the nuns, but
this popped up today.
Worth a read.

In some ways I find this stuff fascinating but in other ways it's a bit frustrating: "Hey look at all this really cool stuff that was happening when you were 13 and didn't have a clue!"

The regularly over-flowing toilets were the scariest thing about the Phono in '82/3

. In those days you never joined a taxi queue you just walked back up the hill to the wasteland around the Uni, usually via Tony's caf.
The Warehouse of a weekend was much more upmarket with a fair few new-romantic/proto-g*th student nurses attending as part of the attraction. Fav to the George and then the Warehouse was a regular trek.
