WAKE

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

You have to be 'respectable' to play at the RAH.

Sisters & Banshees have done to my knowledge but beyond that it's sit down & stroke your chin music...

The sisters at their finest. This is how I got into The Sisters watching the VHS 5 yrs too late!

Lot's of video shots of folks on shoulders and it would be interesting whether anyone from this forum recognises them or they might even be on this forum?

We were about half way back on Craig's side. Long hair, bangles and patchouli in those days baby.

How many people does the Albert Hall hold? If every rando in Leeds over the years who told me they'd been had actually been, then they would have had to have played Wembley Stadium to fit 'em all in.

No, you could get tickets on the day, my fellow students Mark and Sue did just that. I was once told it was 6, 500 capacity there.

I’d read that the venue could be separated into sections so not every band was playing to a 5k sized room.

Did the sisters use the whole space? Seems a bit wild for them in 1985. I’d have expected them to play to a smaller section of the overall venue.

If I remember rightly initially there was talk of a second night option, but the sluggish sales nixed that. To be honest the promotional aspect wasn't great.

I think the capacity options at the RAH revolved around whether the stalls were seated or not and how many tiers to open.

Makes sense. Did the sisters have upstairs open?

The only other footage I’ve paid much attention to from around that era was the banshees live video filmed there.

They seemed to have at least some of the upstairs Stalls open because there’s footage of the audience going into the venue and up the stairs... including one shot of Martin Degville falling up some stairs 😂

Half the anecdotes include people jumping from the top deck down to the pit as soon as they came on ;)
The inside is mostly stairs, I don't think you can get into any area without a bit of a climb

Unless they are really tall people.
Not sure about the boxes.
Cheers.
