It's not exactly on my way home from Berlin, but it's a weekend, so I'll probably be there too. :D

Does anyone know roughly how long it would take/cost to get a train from Berlin? And is it better to book in advance or on the day...
Can't figure it out at the moment!?

you can take a bus from berlin to dresden.

probably the cheapest option.

the bus drives 4 times a day to dresden and costs 17 EUR

the ride goes 3,5 hours

link: http://www.berlinlinienbus.de

if you book a train ticket early enough it shouldn't be more than 25 EUR either. right now is too early, btw. i guess 3 months in advance is the earliest option for german train tickets.

Josch - just to say. My wife came with me to Tienen last year. It was her first time to see the sisters - and she wasn't a fan beforehand but absolutely loved them! Hope you get the same response!

for everyone who's considering to go to dresden after berlin:

buy a "schönes wochenende ticket" (weekend ticket) to do the trip by train. it costs 39 EUR (you can buy it directly at the station) and is valid for one day / 5 persons.

makes 7,80 EUR / each traveller / one way.

you can't get it cheaper.

the train goes approx 4 hours.

who will join the trip?

:)

I'd be glad to join. :D But I assume the 5 persons must travel together at the very same train, so the question is:
a) do we go to the afterparty in Berlin and keep on partying till the first train at dawn, and then sleep during the day in each one's preferred hotel in Dresden, or
b) do we leave the afterparty in Berlin sometime at night, go to sleep in each one's preferred hotel in Berlin, and then catch an afternoon train to Dresden?
If anybody's looking for a fifth person for option a), I'd be happy to do it. I've done stuff like that before, so no problem.
But b) is OK too. :D
