'I can't see a goddamn thing so I love you all' (Hidden in the smoke, after the opening song at Rock Ternat, October 13th 2001). After that remark we just knew it was going to be a great show. Then some people started kicking this big balloon around... until it got to Von, who dryly blew it up by sticking his cigarette in it. Told ya it was a great show...

Listened to my "Trans Europe Excess" boot yesterday (can't remember what gig this is, can't be bothered looking it up).

Just as they kick into Gimme Shelter:

"You don't even know what it is yet, chickenshit."

three gems from rock city nottingham, black oktober tour:

"if all this tuning up gets on your tits as much as it does mine, i apologise....what i want to know is if i can sing so blissfully out tune why you guys can't play out of tune?...oh, one of them does actually."

"one thing we've learned in our many years, is that a right hand is a horrible thing to lose....i'd retract yours if i was you, my man."

"i'm not anorexic, i'm just compact, alright? i'm just compact."

my fave from the "obscure" folder...

RAH:
"christopher marlowe where are you when your country needs you?"

:von:
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Mallemont Festival, Belgium 83...

'bear with us a minute, the bass is fcuked. That's belgian for fcuked'.

Leeds Poly 91...(removes shades....)

'look, nearly human!'
There is increasing evidence to suggest that Chris may have been being sarcastic.

Wasn't this the gig where he can be heard saying, 'No,I can't hear me either" to the audience? :?

I'm sure an opiate based analgesic would help with that, does Eldritch not have a friendly GP?

somewhere along the Black October tour in Holland:

"Yet another song about buildings and drugs," [Body Electric kicks in]
"...but mostly buildings."

"This one is called Floorshow" [Avalanche really starts thumping hard].
Andrew yells over the Doktor "...and for a very good reason!"
[and a smashing version it is!]

Isn't that from Stuttgart nov 84?
On the other hand, with a lifestyle the boyz were cultivating in those days, there must be plenty of nights with Von feeling a bit woopsy :innocent:

That "for a very good reason" one is from Nijmegen (spelling?) '84. Ace versions of Anaconda and Sister Ray too. I miss that boot, I used to listen to it a lot...

Spelling is correct, Korin.
And yeah, that Nijmegen 5/6/84 recording is truly amazing! If I have to choose only 1 Sisters boot, this will be the one... my favourite Sisters gig of all time. 8)

Stuttgart, yes.

One of the best (and funniest).

Although "you're not Dutch, I know you're not Dutch, how do I know this? You've got Scottish written all over your bum" from either Trojan Horse or Melkweg 84 is also a goodie.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
