does anyone (preferably local to leeds) want a pet rat?
its a long story, but basically we are trying to find it a new home before we have to give it to the rspca..
mrs qb works with rehousing ex-offenders, and this pet rat belonged to one of her clients, who sadly is no longer an "ex" offender, if you see what i mean
he's gone back to prison and has left this rat in his house! mrs qb has taken it in last night and will look after it for a few days before giving it to the rspca... sadly the rspca put down animals that they can't re-home after a period of time
so, anyone fancy a new pet?
its an albino, we've no idea how old it is or what sex it is, but its very friendly & always comes to the front of the cage to say hello. it doesn't seem like being handled or stroked, but it does like to say hello
and it seems to have made friends with the dog
we've called it twinkle
here's some photos:
anyone want him/her/it?

It's female, and it's lovely.
If I could have pets in my flat I'd have her in a second.
Honestly, anyone in Yorkshire who is allowed animals - TAKE HER! It'll be the best decision you ever make - friend for life and all that.
There is no better pet than a rat.
Oh, and it looks pretty old.

My God! it's a post from Jim!
My ex had a rat, and they're cool, except that their tails freak me out.

he's inside for about 3 years i gather (for breach of parole and re-offending, or somesuch - not too sure) and from what i gather the offender is question is not a "socially responsible" person anyway_emma_ wrote:Have you contacted the owner? Perhaps he's got a friend outside prison who could take care of the rat while he's locked?
Or maybe he could take the rat to prison with him? I've heard there are some prisons that do allow pets.
also, he's signed a form to say that mrs qb's organisation are allowed to find it a permanent new home.
What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
Maybe Stella needs a new friend

She's so cute, I wish I could...but even my goldfish is in breach of my lease & I only get away with the cat cos it only comes in for dinner. (I think he is a time share cat and lives somewhere else really.)
Good luck with the search QB.

well, if there's someone that actually wants her i suspect we'd be prepared to drop her off...d00mw0lf wrote:oh the poor thing

it has to be better than the rspca doesnt it?
and there'd be no requirement to keep calling her twinkle - no idea what her real name is
but i think it suits her anyway
have a think about it and if you're serious i'll mention it to mrs qb.
we've both asked a lot of people so i don't want to say "yes" only to find out she's already promised her to someone else.

yep - no probs here - got sawdust/spare cages and stuff like that from the hamsters and plenty of dog-free space for a ratQuiff Boy wrote:well, if there's someone that actually wants her i suspect we'd be prepared to drop her off...d00mw0lf wrote:oh the poor thing

Three cheers for the rat-saver.

True. Rats are incredibly intelligent. I myself would love to become the new owner of Twinkle, but I live a few thousand kilometers from Leeds, so... Oh and I still have those two 9 week old kittens to give away to some responsible, cat-loving people. I don't think they would live in peace with a rat, even if we were living in Leeds.Jim wrote:Three cheers for the rat-saver.
