I'm curious as to where everyone gets their news from.

Here in the states, it's slim pickings. I'd venture to say that 90% of the news that's reported here is utter tripe. I have to piece together bits of truth from various sources to get an idea of what's really what. So every morning I read the New York Times, Cnn.com, AOL news, The Week (the closest I can find to a fairly accurate publication), and The Onion (for fun), and Snopes (for debunking).

And forget about the "news" that's reported on t.v. here. Broadcast news here has to be considered safe for family viewing, so the most you can hope for is reporting on the hippie plight to save the North American endangered wheatgrass (or some such nonsense, I don't follow hippie politics).

Any suggestions, spare change, or mathematical equations are greatly appreciated.
I would have done something, but I was overwhelmed by a lack of concern.

www.guardian.co.uk is better for a 'bigger picture' view of world affairs. Good international coverage but a slight tendancy to crawl up its own arse. Actually, an overwhelming tendancy to crawl up its own arse, but there you go.

for South African live on air radio - always very good international coverage of stories and active debate. Tim Modise in the morning is always refreshing to listen to.

www.safm.co.za
the radio arm of the national broadcaster and also very good comment from a variety of international and local sources - very accurate reporting - AM Live, After Eight Debate and Vuyo Mbuli in the mornings have many different local and international contributors.

In my humble opinion and being in the media monitoring business, I believe the majority of Sarf Effricans are VERY well informed of international stories and the comment we are exposed to is quite hard-arsed.
