Anyone else catch the snippet of Temple Of Love (the "new" version) that Look North played last week?
Can't remember what day it was, but it was one of those "we've got a couple of minutes to fill the end of the programme up" articles. So they sent a crew up to Whitby to film a "goth B&B" And guess what they played as the camera zoomed in on things in a "spooky" kind of way?
Still, it's nice to know TSOM are still floating round the media's subconscience. Even in a cliched sort of way
BTW has anyone actually stayed in this place? I think it was called "Bedknobs & Broomsticks" but I could be hopelessly mistaken

Excellent name for a B&B. Can see it attracting all sorts with a name like that. Unlike 'The Reptile House', which will be the name of the B&B I open when I retire. Simon D will be the nightly 'turn', followed by bingo utilising negative numbers only. The bar will serve snakebite 'n' black and nowt else, and there will be no food on offer whatsoever- just a line of whizz at breakfast to perk everyone up. Complimentary eyeliner in the bathrooms rather than shoe polish, crimpers rather than a hairdryer, and The Gideons will have placed 'Hammer of the Gods' and Mick Mercer's 'Gothic Rock Black Book' in the bedside drawer. In case you're worried, porn will of course still be available on the TV. Nightly rates: £19.69 single, while a double will set you back £25000. Book early.Mrs. Snowey wrote:BTW has anyone actually stayed in this place? I think it was called "Bedknobs & Broomsticks"

It seems like that's the only way TSOM are floating around at all. In the USA, it's even worse as far as references go. The Sisters are generally doomed to eternal media hackdom's definition of 'goth' music, and they are always (perhaps rightly) referred to in the past tense.Mrs. Snowey wrote: Still, it's nice to know TSOM are still floating round the media's subconscience. And yes, as I float through music stores, I note the Sisters discs, dropping and dropping in price...

Geez, please let me know where you're shopping for music, as everywhere I go TSOM discs seem to have a steeper price than most. In fact, I just paid $24 to replace my SGWBM dics. Although that was a bargain compared to the usual $27 price tag.Electrochrome wrote:It seems like that's the only way TSOM are floating around at all. I would have done something, but I was overwhelmed by a lack of concern.

SGWBM is, of course, the exception, being an import here in the States (and in the UK as well, I guess). But the studio albums appear to have dropped in suggested retail price to around $10 or so, not the usual extortionate $18 (to say nothing of the UKs criminal CD prices), and I've seen Tower records dropping Floodland recently to the $7.99 sale price for a limited time.CtrlAltDelete wrote:Geez, please let me know where you're shopping for music, as everywhere I go TSOM discs seem to have a steeper price than most. Not complaining, at all.
Recall the interview from about two years ago where Eldritch mentions that his lawyer said that whatever he was offered--take it, since it was more than he'd ever get. That's two years ago, so we can assume any association with the majors is never going to happen. Plus, I am convinced that Eldritch's name is probably mud in the industry--word gets around about artists who don't fulfill contracts and go on strike, no what the justification. If you're a record exec at a 'major', why would you sign the Sisters when you can continue to sign more manipulatable crap?
