ey oop, our lass is jiggered, she's been gipping all night

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

GPs confused by 'manky' patients:

A group of foreign doctors left baffled by South Yorkshire slang are being taught the local dialect so they know when their patients feel "champion".

 you bloody Yorkshire lot, can't you learn to speak propah-like!

(the news report also provides a brief guide to Yorkshire slang, which will be useful to all of us on this site who can't understand a word of what the Leeds contingent are on about.)

@CorpPunk: Many thanks - there's still a lot of work to do (adding reviews, plus a system where visitors can log in and leave comments about books, rate books etc - but it's coming along :) Now buy something from it, and make me some money!

@Karst: Bloody Oi!â„¢ Gibson's stuff is pretty damn good!

@ everyone else: Off topic after one post - is this a record?

You're welcome. Put something up besides Gibson and I'll see what I can do. I'm not really into experimental fiction apart from Ishmael Reed, and maybe Auster in small doses...

And btw, Laz, it looks like our Mr Gibson is blogging again: http://www.williamgibsonbooks.com/blog/ ... rchive.asp

(Sorry for resurrecting, but I had a dream that this thread might try to get back on topic. Prevention is the best cure.)

Jen - Don't scare him.

LC - Don't.
