Rose Of Avalanche - Never Another Sunset

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Now then, on behalf of a friend of mine, I'm after a CD of Rose Of Avalanche's Never Another Sunset. A CDR copy would more than suffice. If anyone could spare a copy, or of course trade for something Sisterly, that would be fab.

was bidding for one on ebay last week and it went for 29.00 quid..!!

but on a good note, just one another copy on ebay for £6.91 hussar!!!

on the continent is yer best bet, ebay europe.....nowt doin in the uk thats for sure!

(It never got an official release on CD in the Uk you see.....)

I saw RoA walk off stage at the QMU supporting someone (?), I was in the pub with flat tops, I wasn't happy either.

So was I, at the Edinburgh gig anyway, where RoA stormed off (again?) when, after two songs the singer got a pint thrown over him. I was gutted as I really liked them and wanted to see them live :(

I got the RoA singles CD on ebay a couple of weeks ago. Would love to track down the first album on CD if it exists...

I was there for the Leeds gig on 4.11.86, and yes, they were great. There was some sort of equipment failure after about 3 songs but they continued with 1 guitar and vocals for a few minutes until things could continue. Oh, and I didn't read what it said on my ticket*. :lol:

The above are the cd's i know to.....

Saw em on the Crusade, and first time out before that, they played on two gigs of Expedition One, Just before Pauline Murray and the Storm.

Sad as I am, never missed a UK or German show (as much as possible) for the ten years that followed....

Think i've mentioned this before, caught the last ever Rose gig at the Duchess just before the first Leeds heineken festival, they were gonna change their name and start again...never did mind, just called it a day...shame.

What year was that? I saw them at the Duchess several times, the last time in may'93. I never heard of them again after this gig.

Do you remember em playing 'Step It Up' as a cover as the final song???

If so that WAS the gig....

about 50 folks there.....end of an era...was sat upstairs in the so called 'band room' whilst the lads rued the fate of the Rose.....

a few things stand out from that night:

Phil was wearing a t-shirt with 0*1 - We Call It Leeds...
I shouted a request for 'Peace Inside' and got told to F*** O**....
There was some frwaky g*** bird with cobwebs on the face hand dancing, my missus laughed herself silly all night at that...
My missus was also so taken with the Rose that we even had LA Rain at our wedding as the song you have to dance to... :eek:

In Laws daint know what hit em!!!

Last i heard :

Darren Horner - Returned to original career as electrical engineer.

Nicole McKay - Psychiatric nurse currently backpacking across the world to Australia.

Yep they played Step it Up as the last song. 29.5.93. I think I retrieved the hand-made sign advertising the gig off the door at the end.
I never knew it was their last gig, although I always kindof suspected it was one of the last as I didn't hear of them again after that.

I saw them at the Leeds date. Cracking show, it was great to see them on a decent sized stage with decent pa for a change.

I bootlegged the show, but years later the tape snapped. For reasons that I still can't remember I binned it instead of doing a selotape repair. I've kicked myself eversince, as every other boot I've come accross from this period was crap quality. :oops:

On the photocopied cover of the cassette I circulated at the time I called the tape "Didn't you read what it said on your ticket?" as it seemed fashionable to give bootleg tapes names at that time.
