Pie

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I'm sure either Quiff Boy or I can find a recipe for vegan (lactose free) cheesecake.

its definitely possible because "beanos" - the wholefood shop in leeds - sell it. lemon or raspberry i seem to recall.

you could give them a ring and ask for their supplier - i assume you live in somewhere other than leeds so i doubt they would have a problem with you dong that ;)

failing that, you could always have a scout around here 8)

here we go - http://www.veganfamily.co.uk/tofu.htm
Tofu Cheesecake.

This pudding is high in calcium and protein and depending on the variety you choose could also be a good source of vitamin C and potassium.

Ingredients.
200g/7oz/1 and 3 quarters cup of vegan digestive biscuits (graham crackers in the US) or bourbons for the chocolate variety

150g./5 oz/half a cup vegan margarine

1 block of tofu - about 400g/12 oz/1 and a quarter cups (silken is best for this recipe but other forms will do)

1 banana

1cup of orange juice

4 Tbspoons of sugar

4 Tbspoons of sunflower oil

For chocolate variety:2 Tbspoons of cocoa

For fruit variety: some fruit stewed with a little sugar

Crush the digestive biscuits and melt the margarine and then mix these two ingredients together. Press this mixture into a large flat dish. Combine the tofu, banana, orange juice, sugar, oil, and cocoa (for chocolate only) in a blender until smooth and pour onto the base. Bake in oven at 180 degrees for about half an hour. For the fruit variety, allow the cake to cool slightly then pour the stewed fruit with sugar over the top and chill. This can be topped with all raw fruit instead (kiwi, tangerine slices etc).
:D

@BillyBadBreaks - to go with your vegan cheesecake, you'll need some Swedish Glace vegan ice cream (as sold in Holland & Barratt and ASDA!)

Yes, the major supermarkets tend to sell the vanilla one, but Holland & Barratt can supply you with the choc and strawberry varieties.

I'm definitely a choc person :D

This topic has swerved regrettably off-topic, to the point of insult. I don't even like cheesecake. :|

I do like cake, though. Can we talk about cake? I prefer chocolate cake with white icing (the flavour is pretty irrelevant, cos apparently I like all the white flavours. Oh, was that dirty?). I like animal products too, but I'm curious: how to you make a cake without eggs? What do you use instead?

I like cake, I eat cake, damn it I may even bake a cake, but my heart belongs to pie

i have a recepie for eggless cake (which is VERY nice!) somewhere...
At the moment, my main quest (baking-wise) is the *perfect* carrot cake.

mashed up banana and/or vegetable oil, I think.

I dunno - if I treat myself to cake, I usually buy it ready-made from some veggie shop. Carrot cake rules.
