Walk Away Video - The Who - The Kids Are Alright

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Ever wondered where the concept for the Walk Away video came
from ?

Check out the Who's The Kids are Alright DVD, in particular the final performance of "Won't Get Fooled Again" filmed at Shepperton in 1978.

Blue Sweeping lasers, dry ice swirling blue laser tunnel, Roger Daltery appearing through said tunnel with bouffant hairdo.

No way it's a coincidence, it's near shot for shot.

cant be bothered buying the DVD ? here's a taster from the DVD cover

Never let it be said that the Sisters weren't original :innocent:

It's also very similar to an old Michael Jackson video. I still haven't found out what the MJ song is called, but the in the video Michael is performing in dry ice, green sweeping lasers, tunnel-style, against black background, and Michael scatters glitter the same way Andy does.

These video directors are either a) consciously self-referential, thereby revealing the savage ironies of a postmodern consumer culture, or b) lazy arses.

I seem to remember the Who's version was a little better done.... :? more dramatic.

Possibly Rock with You, from the time before he became white.

That could be the one. I guess it's pre-Thriller era although MJ is in the early stages of his metamorphosis from afro-american to alien. The similarities in the videos are more than just coincidential, check it out if you have time and nothing better to do.
