I seem to remember that prior to the Wake concert film there had been two earlier attempts at making an offical Sisters in concert film. Does anyone know which gigs?
IIRC:
One gig during Black October (which gig?) & at Leeds '85 (but I could be wrong?) (imagine: Nine While Nine )
Perhaps QB should ask Mr. Marx.
Live concerts officially filmed before Wake ...

So who should I hi-jack to get one of thoose?taylor wrote:Sheffields 27.10.84 with Skeletals - filmed but not released
Leeds Uny 15.03.85 filmed ?
Someone actually have a copy? Who filmed it? (Polygram, WEA...?)
the Sheffield one was filmed by Whiteline label (Mekons video lbs) with permission of the band but never released because too dark footage due
poor lighting service and too dry-ice, so whiteline release just the Skeletal family ones.
Regards the other i dont know more details but know that exist because a close friend saw a sample of it.

i was at that sheffield gig, my first ever sisters experience.
i dont remember cameras being there. i do recall that the octagon was so full of dry ice you couldnt see each other , let alone the band, which probably explains why.
for about 4 songs during the second half of the show, mr e had a hanging trail of spittle going from his chin down onto the top of his chest.
not great video footage, but a fantastic concert nontheless.

So there is a chance to get a copy of the Sheffield one, somewhere? I really really really want this. Let the research begin.taylor wrote:the Sheffield one was filmed by Whiteline label (Mekons video lbs) with permission of the band but never released because too dark footage due

So where do we find this video..
- Does Whiteline still exist?
- Where are they now?
- What was the location of the comapny?
- Who owned it?
Any hints on the Skeletal Family video?
Ah well, I start by calling every company named Whiteline which I found at: http://www.scoot.co.uk/company/company. ... &st=0&pg=1
Then I'm gonna cry myself to sleep.

In a presscutting for some Brixton Ace shows, it says "A Concert For T.V. Presents..." / "All shows being recorded for Ch.4"
One of the gigs is Sisters - Brixton Ace 19.2.83.
There was a show on Channel 4 around this time called "Whatever You Want" (the repeat was called "Whatever You Didn't Get") who I know broadcast other bands at Brixton Ace so it has to have been for this show.
I contacted Channel 4 years ago and asked if the footage still existed, or if it was even filmed in the first place, and they said the show was made by an independent production company who doesn't exist any more, so they weren't much help.
Was anyone at this gig (long shot, it was so long ago) who might have seen cameras filming it?
EDIT: Live concerts filmed after Wake?
There aren't any are there? (Officially released ones I mean.)
The closest I know of is an AUDIO I have of an interview with Tony James & Tim Bricheno off MTV USA 19.4.91 and between the interviews it sounds like they're showing short live clips (presumably filmed in the oh-so-professional mtv one-camera not-much-better-than-a-bootleg style, on their American tour that same month). Anyone have the video and can confirm if they're showing live clips?
Oh, and theres that live version of Suzanne, supposedly a taster of the DVD that never materialised.

I know TV4 here in Sweden broadcasted clips from Arvika 1998 and 2001. I wrote to them but they said they only got the sequences they showed on TV (yeah right, you put up cameras and film 2 seconds and then go home).. Especially the Arvika 1998 I'm quite sure they filmed the whole concert, they where standing far from the stage so I guess they (the sisters) never noticed them.

I have a Spear of Destiny concert from Whatever You Want at the Brixton Ace from the same time period. There are 4 cameras and good editing, so I imagine that any SOM show would be of comparable quality.
I'll contact SOD's management and see how they obtained the footage (it was released last summer).

I've seen a camcorder on the sound desk at several Sisters gigs. It just sits there on a tripod with nobody controlling it. I'm guessing these "official" videos will all be as bad as the York vid.

Yeah I've noticed that too. In fact IIRC any footage shot with that camera at Leeds Blank Canvas 27/Apr/03 will likely be largely of the back of my head.

I used to watch CH4 Whatever You Want, it was presented and I think produced by Keith Allen, the comedian. Perhaps he might be worth contacting.
They showed parts of concerts by Virgin Prunes and Southern Death Cult if I recall.
