the candlemaesse conspiracy

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

i was looking at the publishing credits on some merciful releases & noticed that 'candlemaesse ltd' appears on the falaa lp in 1985.

it then changes over time to eldritch boulevard ltd ( which changed its name to the sisters of mercy limited in 2002).

anyone familiar with the candlemaesse? - apparently a highly elaborate ceremony of great beauty in a work of fiction known as "the mandrake saga".

try this (via a google search);

"a routine diplomatic visit to the distant fog shrouded land of grumarye turns into a desperate struggle against usupers. lord sciefyr & his lady almirena must use all thier wits, cunning & charm, whilst battling an evil that strikes closer to home. it could only happen at the time of the candelmaesse..."

open the lyric sheet to floodland & ... art imitating life imitating.....

lord sciefyr & his lady almirena: our hero and his accomplice?

routine diplomatic visit to the distant fog shrouded land of grumarye: dodgy goth clubs? or a jaunt on top of the pops?

a desperate struggle against usupers: the sisterhood, hussey & co? or WEA?

evil that strikes closer to home: hussey? goths?

i like it :lol: :notworthy:

Presumably it's based on the more familiar spelling of candlemass, a religious festival? Does anyone know who wrote this mandrake saga, and when?
Chris
