QB, since this is "Sisters Chat", would it not be more efficient to make a "Sisterhood-SSV Chat" board?
Before anyone goes off on a tangent (or a cosine), it was a suggestion.
So many Sisterhood topics.
Dark you are a genius! I post the topic: A question to all Sisters fan!
I was just curious what the Sisters fans are thinking about the Sisterhood!
And there are many Sisterhood fans!
Quote from the book The Sisters of Mercy-Life : "Gift",to utter disappointment of old SOM's fans.it's nothing more than a transition album, filed withe the sound of electronic devices backed by danceable rhythms and a very few guitars; moreover, no songs are sung by eldrtich, who considers the album more as an outlet for his musicianship than the basis fo future developments. The Sisterhood project is exhausted.
But there are many people beg for more from the Sisterhood!!! Andrew are you there? Please, a new Sisterhood album in 2005! And a new Sisters album also! So come out your lazy chair!

We're about as likely to get a new Sisterhood album as a new SSV album. And the chances of a new Sisters album are just not there. He's probably spent the last years wasting away and laughing at our devotion.Marc wrote: Dark you are a genius! I post the topic: A question to all Sisters fan!

the sisters/sisterhood/ssv. 'tis all one and the same.
anything put out by mr eldritch, or by any people (other than wayne ) that have been affiliated with the band &/or label are perfectly valid subject matter for here... eg: gary marx/ghost dance, the violets, skellies, salvation, etc etc etc
plus i find that if you have too many topic areas stuff gets diluted and confusing...

You could tuck it in the "Where are they now?" forum if you have reservations about talking about it/them here.Dark wrote:QB, since this is "Sisters Chat", would it not be more efficient to make a "Sisterhood-SSV Chat" board?

There's a difference between techno and crap. Not entirely sure what it is, but it has something to do with drums, Radio Four and red acrylic paint.paint it black wrote:honestly, some people can take a crap in a bucket and it's still called art

I like Gift but IMO listening to SSV is a one-time-only deal

musically i like it, it's still okay after all this time, but it's not really a challenge is it
jihad - the obvious holy war thing, but also the chant! chant! chant! declaration of war . musically; the repetitive almost shouty style seems to reinforce this?
colours - to me, most obviously going into war, "your colours wrapped around" an analogy to football fans or opposing armies. take your choice
. musically; i hear drummers marching throughout?
giving ground - this is gonna be messy and no ones gonna win, but if you really wanna. musically, the kinda upbeat tempo supports it's status as a damn fine song, but you also get this bmm bmm bmm marching feel and then the cymbally kinda sounds come in kinda like returning salvos, even the stretched out lyrics may be 'heard' as gas
finland red, egypt white - the weapon of choice ak47 but basically its' the 'war' being acted out. for me this is why it's spoken and very basic, its step by step procedure deliberate to almost mimic troop movements
rain from heaven - the obvious portia forgiveness thing, but more likely for von, the entire work and therefore the pound of flesh won
does anyone have a different take on gift
btw - has anyone a meaning for RSV as employed by both parties? my research brought me to a kind of religious truce, which seems to make sense

I assumed that RSV was for "Revised Standard Version" and AV for "Authorized Version." The latter can refer to the King James translation of the Bible, and the former a translation into more modern English. In the case of Giving Ground, just a slight word play (as is often the case with lyric discussions around here) on common phrases for the two versions of the track.paint it black wrote:btw - has anyone a meaning for RSV as employed by both parties? my research brought me to a kind of religious truce, which seems to make sense
