you know, i've never really listened to TOL 92 that closely before...
right now i'm at work and i have headphones on, listening to Overbombing and it just came on. i was about to hit NEXT, but something stopped me.
the thing is i'm not a massive fan off the original version of TOL - i mean, its ok. blistering guitars etc... but its very overplayed, and the 92 version even more so!!
however, i have to say that it really is quite nice...
not too keen on the doktor's choice of snare drum, and ofrah gets a bit annoying after a while, but the production on the rest of the guitars, bass & synths etc is really quiet cool
and von's voice is actually pretty darn good
the ending is good too - that overdriven guitar drone fading away...
hmmmm.
nice. i think i like it...

Yes, it is Ofra. And actually i like TOL92. It was the first version listened and even though i do have to admit the original version is far better, i still like it. It's a bit different but it's not like it's a bad song or something.

The Sisters Inquisition will be calling round with the big
fluffy cushions.
Well, we would if we;
a) knew where you lived
b) Could be bothered
c) Didn't support freedom of opinion.
The real issue is are there any subversive messages
scratched into the run-out groove of TOL92?
I only have the CD, but I reckon it would take a lot to
top "Long Live Gonzoid Amphetamine Filth".
Oh, and the sun is in the wrong side of the sky on the
sleeve of TOL92.

I like the song, I got over it being over played by not going to the places that play it. Simple really.
The video is pretty bad though.

You should be really ashamed, admitting to knowing Warrant songs. Yeeesh.

It's the worst lyrical extract I could remember. Pure tripe.
No, don't like TOL at all, any version. So was esp please when at Crewe Paddy introduced it with 'this one's for Groupie'!!!!! The git!!! :*On Aug 12, 2002 5:53am, Zigeunerweisen wrote:You really don't like it?On Aug 11, 2002 11:17am, groupie smurph wrote:

mmmmmmm, given the choice between TOL92 and the (IMHO) far far worse Alice93 (the bastards, how could they?¿?¿) i'd have to say that TOL92 was ok(ish)

Alice '93 is a pretty straight copy apart from the opening lyric which replaces Alice with She - which Von has been singing for the last 17 or so years.
Nothing like ruining the song by giving it some production values!
Next Body Electric '82 v Body Electric '84.

I have to agree with Don here....
Ide love to hear certain songs re-recorded with modern tech. Imagine the likes of Floorshow, Anaconda or Adrenochrome.
Alice is such a well worked melody that to me it doesnt gain a great deal with the 93 re-vamp, but i still like that version.
Temple 92 on the other hand is a masterful re-make.
Paddy.

alice 93 sounds like they recorded the doktor's parts in a garage. it sounds terrible!
the rest of it is an uninspired walthrough... nah, i dont like that one

What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
Couple of things worth bearing in mind here.
Von himself stated that UTG would be backed with a dodgy re-recording of Alice for certain reasons.
Presumably because he was on "strike" and wasn't about to deliver East West any new material. He only released UTG because East West claimed they couldn't market an album without a single.
If things had been different it might well have been backed with Come Together.
