Hurricane and flood in Tallinn tonight

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

No flood in Tallinn (so far), only very strong wind and so on. But it really happened in a couple of other Estonian towns (the sea was 3 m metres higher than normal in one of them).

One person died. 15 % were without electricity. But in Latvia the number was 60 % :urff:

I am glad that you are all right, at least. I had not seen you log on for a while, and I had not been able to reach anyone else in Estonia either. I hope that the worst has passed.

All those weather anomalies, no matter how great they look, can indeed change our lives into a nightmare. :( Last night wind destroyed my doorsill, and that's nothing compared to the e-mail I got from a close friend from Nevada. They're having blizzards and gales, landslides, collapsed buildings. There's so much snow that there's no more food nor beer in the shops around where he lives, because any transport is impossible at the moment, and it's still snowing.
Food, well, one can survive without it for quite a long time, but beer...

As I am originally from Cockermouth (quiet at the back), I found it amusing when it was reported on the news that Carlisle had been "cut-off". As far as I know, hasn't it always..?

Yeah. It's always had the normal people living in it. It's the rest of Dumbria that is rife with inbreeding. (apart from keswick as my mum was born there).
