Looks like you're sorted... and doesn't exactly solve your question, but Windows Movie Maker isn't bad and comes free with Windows.
Quicktime Pro will allow you to edit movies together - costs $29.99 (about 15-18uk I think), which isn't too bad...

Sorry, meant to mention Windows Movie Maker doesn't do Quicktime (which is why I mentioned it doesn't really solve you're problem )
