Dress making.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I have tried and tried to convince my husband that I need a new dress for WGW. I have found one that is perfect but people who are obviously not on my side here have pointed out the cost of shipping from the U.S blah blah blah. Does anyone know of any dressmakers in England who can make such an item?

How fabulous! ;D

I would imagine shipping from the US would cost less than having it tailor-made over here.

Thank you Mark. You rock and I shall not pick on you for a while!! I think £155 for three months including the dress, wire petticoat with bustle and shipping is bloody good for something that is handmade!

Given the current exchange rate, I think getting it made and shipped would be relatively cheap.

And not being one for frilly dresses meself, I think its pretty, well, pretty. Go for it!

well if you think that £450 (excluding vat and customs duties) is relatively cheap perhaps you'd like to pay for it? call it a wedding present if you like....

You can buy the patterns for a dress like that in Cole Brothers. I know because I nicked one of the catelogues.... *ahem!*
Making your own clothes is more fun anyway.

He buys you plenty from ebay* already, one extra item won't break the bank.
