graphic designers wanted (for free)

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

i have a favour to ask, on behalf of my old friend, newest HL member, and resident leeds goffix DJ par excellence, phono paul

basically, he needs some flyers designing for the "friday flock" monthly goth/alternative night at the phono, and i think also for the live bands he has playing every couple of weeks at black sheep, the regular sunday night gothfest.

more info on the flock:
http://www.fridayflock.net/

more info on the black sheep live events
http://www.sheepish.net/live/index.php

this comes from paul's original post on livejournal here: clicky

you can see my reply where i happily volunteer your services.. am i good to you or am i good to you? ;D :innocent:

now i know there's a few of you on here who are "a bit handy" with the old crayons, so does anyone want to design something for leeds' superstar dj?

your name will be in lights (4pt arial actually, but you get the gist) and your designs will grace flyers for the phono, leeds' premier goth & alternative venue.

as mr eldritch once said, we have nothing to offer you in return except kudos.

and maybe a pint at the HL doo ;)

for the record, if you look here - clicky - you can just about see the last design of flyer, underneath a gorilla marketing-style HL sticker :von:

i'm not sure exactly what phono paul wants to do with that existing design.

anyone interested should probably take it up directly with him.

cheers :notworthy:

That's what the designers say at my place! You're all the same!

That said, I try to give all my designers carte blanche, mainly cos I don't give a rat's arse. It's when the authors get involved that things get complicated...

I could be rude here, but that's not my style. How's about when 'authors' come in on draft 6 (when all pictures have been scanned, Photoshop'd and placed) and ask for two more lines at the bottom of p.2?
Oh aye, sure, nae probs, that only fucks up the next 26 pages, which I will have to relay. Again! You Dickless Crumsucker!!! Aye!, I love laying things out 10 times, Bastard!

Sorry

Believe me, I hear you. Somewhat akin to illiterate authors reinserting the same mistake pass after pass that the editor has repeatedly fixed, simply because they're too f**king lazy to pick up a goddamn style book/dictionary. Or those who fight every correction to the death--even corrected mistakes--because they "don't need editing." Well, I would certainly agree...if you could write your way out of a wet paper bag with a sharp pencil!

But it's not my style to be rude either, so nevermind. ;D

for the fanzine, my dear. people keep asking if they can have ours, which they can't, as they have 'sixsister' on them, therefore no one who is not a sixsister can wear them.. so we thought we'd do others to sell.
