And the schools programmes. Picture Box, with a rather scary theme tune is one I remember.
And who can forget the best saturday morning childrens programme ever, TISWAS.

Yes, I loved that tune and I'm still looking for a copy! Ditto for most other theme tunes by Ron Grainer, Alan Parker and anything else done in the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. :notworthy:

I like the Black Beauty theme as well but ever since it featured on Alan Partridge, it reminds me too much of him. Britain did great public information films in the 70s, the fire prevention ones being particularly scary. They were mainly animated and with a very authoritative, apocalyptic tone - Patrick Allen maybe - I suspect he did a lot of the voicework for PI films in the 70s. Incidentally, Protect & Survive is now availabe on DVD at amazon. :) I've been hunting for a copy of this for years.
