Pub Quizs

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

So I got roped into one last night. Pop Quiz. We ended up winning it. Won 30 quid at the end which nearly covered the drinks, but the bummer of it is that we have to write the questions for the next one in a month.

We have to put together 100 questions, 10 in each category.

So this is where you lot come in.

Categories I need questions for :

1. What year?
2. Covers (what band covered which song)
3. Movies (what song came from which movie etc)
4. Anagrams (I am s**t at these)
5. Lyrics (next line of a song)

They've gotta be stuff that not everyone will get, but no so hard as no-one will get them!

Anything from the 60 onwards. But no Queen or Prince questions!

What film was IBIATCL in? - Bridget Jones 2

One of each then:

1. What year?
Joe Dolces Music Theatre "Shaddup You Face" kept Ultravox's "Vienna" off the number one spot in.....
1981

2. Covers (what band covered which song)
Bauhaus covered David Bowie's "Ziggy Stardust"
Bonus points if they get the Brian Eno cover of "Third Uncle" on the b-side :D

3. Movies (what song came from which movie etc)
"Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush from Wim Wenders' "Until The End Of the World"

4. Anagrams (I am s**t at these)
Firestorm chess yet? = The Sisters of Mercy
I'm poo at these as well but there's this web site that might help :D

5. Lyrics (next line of a song)
"I bet you're wondering how I knew.....
About your plans to make me blue."
from "I heard it through the grapevine" by Marvin Gaye

Must have taken me ten minutes to come up with them.... I forget how firmly entrenched in the 80's my entire musical life preferences are fixed, and that largely in a dozen obscure bands....

Don't envy you the 95 q's!
Something pithy.

Which US teen idol from the late eighties is a contestant on ITV1's new career re-launch show "Hit Me Baby One More Time"?

Anagrams:
GENUINE CLASS - ALEC GUINNESS

Or, I found these from an old post on Dominion (courtesy of Mutiny In Heaven I believe):

Andrew Eldritch.........
A RICH LEWD TREND
WET ERRAND CHILD
NEW RETARD CHILD
HARD LEWD CRETIN
DARN WRETCH LIED

The sisters of mercy.........
SECRETE FORTH MISSY
SECRETE FOR MY s**t
HE FIST ERECT MRS SOY
SHE SOFT MY ERECT SIR
ERECT FOR MESSY s**t
FORCE HER MESSY TITS
EROTIC HEFTY MESSRS
SECRETS FROM YE s**t

That should keep the swear filter busy! Reading it again, I'm really not sure why I kept it.

Pub quizzes are great. I used to supplement my drinking quite well as a student by cleaning up on the local pub quizzes. That said, we had quite a good team. My mate won 125 grand on Millionaire, and his dad, yes THAT teacher, won a million. Oh, and we did quite well on University Challenge, which was much less lucrative, but we did get to have a lager with Paxo while he inspected the ***s of our female member.
