For Belgian Fans : The Sisters at Lokerse Feesten 2005

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Hey girl, these things aren't totally impractical. Hard work maybe, but one has to push oneself for something.

The wild time you invariably have at festivals is always perfect payback for any ballache encountered getting there in the first place.

Best example is probably last year's Download. A comfy (I was in the back in charge of recreation :P ) journey down was followed by a four hour queue to get in, during which we lost half the recreation, one ticket, two exploding coolbags and consequently half the beer. One of the lads did something grim to his stomach and spent the next three months in and out of hospital.

But we saw The Stooges play a blinding set, culminating in an Iggy-led stage invasion featuring half of Donington, not to mention the priceless expressions of the somewhat confused security meatheads.

And said lad is more than willing to do it all again at Mera Luna this year. You just gotta go.

@Blast - Yer arse in parsely! I am coming to the meet - just to spite you now I think... :P You'd better wear your Black Metal make-up though, otherwise I'll just pop into The Bay Tree on my lonesome or something.

@FFS Dave - If you knew how many places I've been round today, saying "Geez a job!" I am doing my best to raise the funds, what can I say....

If the Techno-bus could let me on for free, that's help!

I am planning to come to this festival, but I'm already dreading the journey up to Brussels/Gent/well, that place:

How come you can get from Zurich to Hildesheim by train in 6.30 hours but it takes you at least 8 hours by train from Zurich to Gent, although it's about the same distance????
Why do you find cheap flights from Zurich to nearly anywhere useless on this planet but NOT to Brussels if you need it???? Seems silly to fly Zurich - Amsterdam - Brussels, but it's the only affordable flight (thanks to KLM).

Or shall I grab my parents old car or camper van? But how will I survive the motorways outside Switzerland? And the traffic jams? And how long does it take me then? And how am I supposed to find my way? And where can I put the car (especially the camper van?)with decent toilets in walking distance? And how much would that cost me? Not the toilets, the whole trip! And: would either car survive such a trip? They're both old and sensitive....

The good news about it would be that I could make sure I have my sound louder than anybody elses'....

Am I really the only one from Switzerland on this whole forum? Is there no other driver around and up for a joint venture? ;D

*sigh* :urff:

Just checked with the Powers That Be (older than me).

I won't be making it.

Looks like I'll have to wait a while and hope some of you are going to see The Buzzcocks or Motörhead at the same time as myself.
Or even AntiProduct who played with The Damned. A bunch of nice, reasonably down-to-earth people, who signed a pic of themselves for me.. but they also sell their various bodily fluids on their website.

So did Swissair, our national pride, and Swiss, its successor has been sold to Luftahnsa before it could suffer the same fate - seems it's become a bit of a habit... ;D

True, lol, though sn seems to go the right way...
Anyways, you could check perhaps if there aren't any flights leading towards airports like Charleroi or Eindhoven (on both of which Ryanair flies), and Antwerp, though Antwerp may be pricy, also Ostend has an airport (don't know about Ryanair), those are all of the bigger airports I know of in Belgium (and Holland, for Eindhoven)

Is anybody from the UK Heartlanders planning to go to both gigs?
I'm thinking about it, but have to plan this trip in advance (babysitting, travel arrangements etc)....

Talking about silly things, when we came over to Leeds for the first HL meet, it was cheaper to fly to Amsterdam and onwards to Leeds than to drive to Amsterdam by car ;)

@Eva: why all the questions, just COME OVER!

Cheers! :D

Doing my best, and I've been checking flights again. Seems sn is doing Geneva for reasonable prices (ha! the Belgians again :notworthy: )... Zurich to Geneva by train is easy and not too expensive either. But maybe the luck's on our side anyway, we'll have more dates and I can travel to Belgium from somewhere else....

Car/camper van is just not an option I want to face yet.... ;D

If any, it'll only be one for me, and given that a) I saw the Stooges last year, and b) VNV Nation are playing Mera Luna, I guess it's the trickier trip to Germany at the mo'. but also

Good luck with the job-hunting. As I've said, I'm sure I'll be in the same boat very soon.

I suppose you could stow away in the techno-tent  , I'm sure Air Berlin wouldn't mind. But then, you'd have to either become the techno-tent, or bring a f**king big umbrella. 8)

Seems like the Stooges and the Sisters won't play at the same day:

The Sisters will play in Tilburg the 6th August.

RobF wrote:I think this one might be like the "Festival" The Sisters played in Bonn a few years ago, ie, seperate gigs over a coupla weeks, which is a real pity, as The Sisters, The Stooges and Jimmy Cliff are three artists that would all make my "Dream Festival" line-up.
the Lokerse Feesten are more a ten day trip, with concerts every day...last year one of the headliners were "The Simple Minds"..
there's 2 or 3 concerts a night...so it won't be so that the sisters play the same night as the stooges...
but for all you non-Belgians out here on HL... we got the best beer in the world..so...

now i just hope it's a correct info...cause i only live 8 miles away from Lokeren ;D ;D ;D ;D
i don't sleep, so i don't dream, so i don't wake up frightened...
everything is what it seems, if you look hard enough tonight and see...

Yes, but I have no - even the slightest idea how to get from my weird country to that place and how much would all this cost ... :?
We, in Estonia, got only 2 cheep airlines (both EasyJet, now RyanAir): Tallinn-London and Tallinn-Berlin :urff:
If someone gave me any idea...

I don't really think so, but their site says:
