How can heaven love me

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Anyone know how Andrew ended up on Sarah Brightman's "How can heaven love me?" He mumbles something in German on the song.

I also think it's Eldo.
And I think they mention his name in the CD booklet,
but unfortunately he is not credited for it on the website.

Thanks for the link, C3!

It does not sound as Eldo, IMO...

I'm not german myself, but his accents and pronunciations sound un-Eldo-ish...

Many thanks for the link, C3.
Although, hearing her shrill voice makes my toenails roll up. :x
I dont think it sounds like Eldo (like IZ said, not really his german accent, plus the voice sounds "too young"...) And furthermore, I can under no circumstances believe that he is involved in something so utterly terrible. It would speak against every taste and decency associated with the man before. :urff:

If it is indeed true, well, I would recommend prostitution as a more honourable way of earning money....

It sounds like him to me. His normal voice is higher than his singing voice and if you listen to some of the later recordings, UTG, I Was Wrong for example they are the nearest you're gonna get to his normal voice.

It's deinately not the same guy who's vocals were on the other parts of the song. There was a website which had all the personel from the record listed, wich Andrew listed as vocalling on this song, but I can't find it now.

For hearing his normal voice, you should listen to the interviews, like the anne clark one from the yahoogroup... The contrast between singing and talkin made me laugh, really, his voice sounded a bit silly to me when he was just talking :)

Now that's sorted out: Von's credited on Gary Moore's After The War. Discuss.

Eric, I saw that SB record in a basket of cheap records in one Stockholm record shop :)
I looked at it (thinking about my Sisters / Eldritch releases collection) - maybe a minute or so - but still wasn't brave enough to buy something so horrible.

I've listened to that song a few times since hearing about this but the backing vocals are so subtle that I can barely hear them let alone tell who it is.

http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/a ... 68,00.html

it says the album is released under the East West label, and he is mentioned in the credits for background vocals. i haven't heard every song on this album so i guess it's possible he is featured on other songs.
actually i like the song. the snaredrum has got a slight dr avalanche feel to it. the guitars are smooth, not too heavy. and the overall song is quite catchy.
i've been listening to it a lot today. i strongly believe it's andrew talking in german. i know andrew's voice when i hear it. andrew has a distinct way of breathing as he's singing. at the end of almost every word he ever sings there's a slight release of air, kind of like a "sigh". we're used to hearing andrew on sisters of mercy records where his voice is often, if not usually boosted up with doubled voices, making him sound older, deeper, bigger, more barytoneish etc. but on this song he sounds "lighter".
i bet my right hand it's him singing on "how can heaven love me". i'm gonna buy this record soon, maybe next week and give all the songs a good listen. maybe he's on more songs too.

right.. on her website it says that chris thompson sings the german part. but my guess it that whoever designed her website isn't too familar with smaller details... such as andrews guest vocals.

its him. you can tell it a mile off. grab any interview from last 15 years and listen to it - then listen to the german spoken section of the song - the voice, accent, everything is utterly identical.

then you need your ears syringing ;)

we are talking about the german spoken-word bit towards the end by the way. not the crooning AOR chap on the main bit of the song
