Is the song "Torch" about Ben Gunn leaving the Sisters of Mercy?
I always thought it was about Ben because when he left the Sisters he formed a band called Torch.

Well I hope it was all a very cathartic, purging experience for Von.

actually ben was a quiet chap. a scrawny, speccy indie kid guitarist who hated eldritch's RAWK posturing, leather trousers and led zepp pretentions, preferring unassuming, intellectual indie miserabledom and stuff like the fall, pere ubu, and gang of four.
and i reckon he would have hated hussey's rock pig attitude

Next time you meet Mr Marx, Quiffy, ask him if Ben Gunn actually played on the SGWBM songs. I'd believe it, since they all seem a lot rawer and punkier than the post-WEA singles, which seem very polished.
Did "Torch" ever release anything?

The rumours that Reptile House EP was recorded by just Von (and maybe Craig) notwithstanding?
