giving up smoking

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

You don't need gum or any other nico-rip off if you read Allen Carr. Also he encourages you to smoke whilst you read the book.

At the end of the book, chances are you wont fancy a fag

Know what Laz?

I'm going to quit, too, then.

In that case you have someone to ask how he manages, and we can pull each other through the tense times ;)

hmmmmm, I'm very tempted to join in, but I think I would need patches or somekind of crutch over and above a few of us doing it and being a 'support group' :|

at school, Hamilton (near Glasgow) back in the 70s, there was a clothes shop or 'boutique' if you will, called "The Trendy Gay Set"
Beat That!

Good luck for the four of you!
I quit aswell a few years ago with the help of Mr. Carr. (I didnt even intend to quit, was just reading it out of curiosity, but since I turned the last page, I didnt touch one fag. And I m really not someone who believes in esoteric self-aid rubbish.)

Nothing to do with Carrie telling you you'd better give up before little Ed arrived then.
And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

well, that's it. I've emptied and washed the ashtrays, and put them away for visitors only.

Desk (usual smoking place) is dusted down of stray fag ash and strands of tobacco and now looks immaculate.

13 lighters have been retrieved from various drawers around the flat and chucked.

I've thrown out the rizlas, and the emergency rizla supply, and the extra-emergency-just-in-case rizla supply.

Good work LazCo. Feel free to bomb small countries if the urge arises.

I'm not going to bother trying to get my friends to give up smoking and drinking and such. Then when they're dying of lung cancer and liver failure, I can laugh at them, as my otherwise-healthy body lives on, making songs and overdoses on Sisters songs.

Same goes for me...

As for giving up smoking, yeah it's easy, I do it every night when I go to sleep.

It's just not starting again the next morning that's the problem ;)

Good luck then. :)
In a way I even like this early phase of the first two or three days after quitting. I'm a heavy smoker and the absence of nicotine throws me into a realm of utter madness: can't drive, can't work, talk even more bs then normal. But it's a macho thing, and fighting my way through it is a strange kind of joy. The withdrawal itself is something I can cope with (with pain and madness and strong concentration).
I always fail later, when I try to make it a normal lifestyle.

So, best wishes, and yes, I'm tempted to follow you on your way...
