I saw a fantastic programme about punk a few years back. When asked about that song, Hugh (IIRC) gave this long talk about heroin and how it can ruin lives. Then they cut to Jet Black who just said "I thought it was about toast."boudicca wrote:It's about heroin?canon docre wrote:The Stranglers - Golden Brown 7"

My mum (who is incredibly naive in a lot of ways, bless her) thought "Brown Sugar" by the Rolling Stones was about "a coloured girl".d00mw0lf wrote: I saw a fantastic programme about punk a few years back. Asda had a bunch of Queen CDs on sale for less than a fiver each. Only Queen I, Jazz and the Game to go before I've recovered all their vinyl I had to sell to supplement my student grant.
And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

Good boy, Francis. I noticed in HMV too, due to the recent New Order album (I've got it on vinyl, like I said, but it's really not that good), they've rereleased all the New Order records on CD, and even all the Joy Division CDs. I bought Unknown Pleasures and Still, but to be honest, I want them on vinyl.Francis wrote:Asda had a bunch of Queen CDs on sale for less than a fiver each. After all, if I want a CD, I can burn it myself. If I want a record, I'd have to spend a hell of a lot to press my own.

I still remember the first time I listened to parallel lines on vinyl [1982], it's still soooo good!! recently got it on cd so can keep in the car.
Atmosphere is just amazing/profound/unique.

Funny, the guy who sold it to me didn't like it, saying She's Lost Control (the b-side) was much better. But he's a punk at heart, even if he DOES own all the Sisters records.culprit wrote:Atmosphere is just amazing/profound/unique.

"new dawn fades" is a better track though.
What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
I agree with him. I also prefer Novelty to Transmission.Dark wrote:Funny, the guy who sold it to me didn't like it, saying She's Lost Control (the b-side) was much better.

i may have to disagree with you there Francis...Transmission is one of my all time must have 12" singles...true classic in it's own right...the B'side never came into itFrancis wrote:I agree with him. where as "She's Lost Control" is an excellent song and a worthy B'side...i can't say that i prefer it over Atmosphere...although it is a very tight call
