I wanna make sweet music...

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

People!

OK, here's the thing. I'm 21 years old, and I still haven't abandoned my ideas of "making music" when I grow up...

I likes to play the pianner. I likes to write a little song. I had a hammered dulcimer, just like Lisa Gerrard, but it broke. I can sing, just like Lisa Gerrard... :innocent:

... shut up.

But I've decided it's finally time to start recording my own tracks, proper like. Alone, for the time being, 'cos me old jammin' partner went off to try and become a marine biologist. Unfortunately, she was the one with all the guitar knowledge. I just played the thing, and badly.

In short, I can write a song, I can write a tune. But I'm f**king ORGANIC.
Just me, a clapped out old pianner and ancient Yamaha keyboard, my voice and a s**t old tape recorder.

I want bells and whistles. I want a nice guitar. I want a nice keyboard. A sequencer. Whatever other bollocks you need. I don't know where to f**king start. Recording on the computer or no? I google, and all I get is GEEKERY!

My dear, knowledgeable Heartlanders... I implore you... 'ELP! :notworthy:

You can all laugh now.

Your computer being rubbish shouldn't put you off.

My (new) band, Tierkreis, have completed two songs (as my siggy proudly says, although it's 3 if the version of Louie Louie counts), simply by using a freeware synth, freeware drum machine and a freeware mixing program, and singing through a sieve into a £10 mic from Tesco's.

The worst part is that it actually sounds better than a lot of techno-radio songs.

So, if you can record your piano and voice, send mea copy and I'll do your mixing. ;)

((EDIT: Just thought I'd mention, my friend might be joining Tierkreis, with what she found in the attic when moving house, a Doctor Rhythm DR-110. ;D;D))

But what if she wanted to make music on equipment from this decade? Hunting down some of that stuff may be a bit tough these days. When was the last time anyone saw a Zip drive?

I must confess I've steered well clear of the techno-bollox section of that website until now...

Sweet country, acid house music.
