What do you peeps think about this new trend in music-land?
And do you have a favourite mashup you heard and actually like?
Some of them are really nice, I think, others are really terrible.
I had some fun with Eminem versus Evanescense myself...
Not really difficult to make yourself, if you consider it... just use a P2P proggie to dl a karaoke version of Song 1 and an 'A cappella' version of Song 2, mix-em together in a simple (or sophisticated, whatever ) sound program et voila!
My own Eminem/Evanescense mashup is called Bring Me Back To The Real Slim Shady, BTW

(Except for Iz, who may happily carry on churning out fecking masterpieces such as "Bring Me Back To The Real Slim Shady, BTW". )

That is fookin' genius Izzy. It's quite scary how much changing the backing track can change the mood of the lyrics - the second verse sounds like it could easily have been done by Limp Bizkit (which would be a bad thing in any other context ).

Well, I'd be inclined towards the do your own thing-thing, but then again, some of those mixes are just so damn right (well, it's a miracle how everything seems to fit sometimes, isn't it?)
So I'll go for the some choice, I guess...

Very nice, Izzy
My husband thinks he might take it to school to play to his "mad" kids.
I can't stand that evanescence woman but like what you've done

I never talk during music, at least during good music. If one hears bad music, it is one's duty to drown it in conversation.

I asked my friend (who's a DJ) if he'd play one of my songs. He asked if it'd be OK to mash it up first.
Now I don't mind if he decided to Smash It Up by making a dance mix would scare me no end.
But nice one, Iz.

As above - brilliant Iz. Which reminds me of my favourite mash - My Name Is...with Rammstein's Engel as backing music. Thunderous.

its very possyble you can create good tracks with it and it takes some skills to do it.
but I have more respect for people who make music from scratch.

One that I've been meaning to track down is Music242 - Madonna's music mixed with Front 242's Welcome to Paradise...

He was the 1st person to "sample" a record - mixing in session recordings done that same day, with a recording being done that second - the guy is a GENIUS!Izzy HaveMercy wrote:I thought that was just plain bad DJ'ing?Big Si wrote:35 yrs more like!Dan wrote:Mashups are so 2 years ago.
