Stonking. But it's like the best techno-ey stuff. Sounds blinding while you're doing the washing-up, sounds better still at 3AM in a field.

E-generation? Who said anything about the e-generation?

So what does speed do for you Dave, apart from keep you awake when there's nothing to do? And what does E do for you apart from make you jump up and down with your arms in the air?
Hi Ho Silver Lining.

Genii? LUCAS FOX!!!! JAMES RAY ?!?!?! You must be bloody joking. The doktor is nowt but a machine and is nada without the attendant nurses and whilst Patty might not be a genius shes a very good bass player.Chairman Bux wrote:You could also look at it in terms of personnel involved: Gift was always going to be a better product due to the attending genii, Patricia discounted of course. Mr. Fox, Mr. Ray and the good Doktor were always going to produce a superior body of work to Messrs Eldritch and co. in a small bedroom somewhere in deepest darkest Leeds 7.
Or have my irony circuits been bypassed somewhere? My head hurts; I'm going for a lie down.
Something pithy.

You want to be careful mik, some people round these parts (not myself I hasten to add) seem to treat a compliment to Patsy as a treasonous offence.

Bollocks to 'em.
I saw Patsy many moons ago playing with the Gun Club and she had it. Von knew it which why HE asked HER to help out with Gift / Floodland.
There are public sides to why that didn't work out in the long run, and I have no private insight, but it should be remembered that she was brought in because of her talent. She's certainly better than Tony James...

Hehehehe
Some folk on here take at his word when he claimed that "the only time she picked up a guitar was for the videos".
Like you say, bollocks to 'em.

Well she certainly seems to get a reaction -
".... Patricia was a very poor musician (even as late as her Sisters of Mercy days she would go home and ask musician friends to teach her the bands' material)......." - Jim Duckworth, The Gun Club.

Isn't bass one of the simpler instruments to play - no chords, just notes? Anyway, she went pretty far for an allegedly unskilled musician. In fact, I believe there are heaps of relatively technically inefficient rockers around.

IIRC Paul McCartney can't read standard music notation; it doesn't seem to have hurt his career any.

the thought of anyone being "technically efficient" scares me. i wouldnt want to be in a band with a technically efficient musicianBlack Biscuit wrote:Isn't bass one of the simpler instruments to play - no chords, just notes? Right
Bass ranges from very simple to incredibly complex
At the simple edge would be eight to the bar notes and maybe the simpler plinky plonky stuff
Next you go into scales which start quite basic and can develop into the incredibly tricky riffs and licks.
Funk and Jazz bass is quite complex (Bootzy Collins, Marcus Miller)
Jaco Pastorius played the bass like a lead instument, he was a God.
Lemmy tends to play chords (having started out as a rhythm guitarist), a lot of what you think is the guitar in Motorhead is actually the bass.

I'll take your word for that, but I can tell you by the time I saw her with Fur Bible she didn't. At all.mik wrote:

Good eyebrows though.
Sorry but this question about the sleeve of this CD started to haunt me:

Re Patsy and technical proficiency.
It was the 80's.
She had good hair.
In addition to being one very foxy lady.
She may or may not have been able to play bass.
Does it matter?
