Explain your name

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Yup. You know you're a goth when regular people address to you as "the goth". There's nothing you can do about it. You're forever bounded to the chains of misery, depression and eyeliner. :D

I didn't put much thought into my name.

I needed a name and was listening to the Birthday Party, the rest is history.....

I don't have a cat, but I have two dogs called Gannet and Millie.

I'm quite sure I've posted to this thread before...

Anyway. My first name is Tim. I've finally gotten used to it, after two decades of distancing myself from it with little success. The Sinister part came from an old band. Voila.

no...it really is a long story (and proably quite dull to boot) and as I'm *new* here I'll bite my tongue for now and check out the member list to see if any of my old partners in crime have joined...wouldn't want to p*ss off the boys in black.
See - i've only been on for 10 mins and I'm already feeling all insecure and 1980's again...

So why and how did people decide on their screen names? Mine derives from an anagram of my fore and middle names.

If a similar topic has been posted before - I don't care as I'm tired

Yes to all! It's one of my favourite videos, along with Love Profusion. Here's a link to some stills:

MIK - becos in kapikul letturs it is orl state line an no fiddly roundy bits wot are dificult wiv only krayons.

Mik - because my name is Michael, my best mate who lived next door when we were kids growing up was also Michael. He was Mike and I was Mick. I lost the 'c' in the garage when we were playing hide and seek.

Mik - because I had a girlfriend who came from Helsinki who called me Mischka which is the affectionate 'shortening' of Mikhail, which is the Eastern European / Russian equivalent.

Mik - Because its a goffic affection of an impressionable and lonely youth trying to carve an identity for himself.

Mik - Because for most of my life, thats who I have been.

All, some or none of the above may or not be true.

My Dad's mate Gryff had two mad persian cats called Benson and Hedges.

My mate Robert had a cat called Skin years before Skunk Anansie got together. It had its own jumper knitted for it by his mum so it was bit like Borka the goose.

I'm allergic, and besides people are supposed to be either cat or dog people and although I'd much prefer beef if it's a pet thing I very much suspect that if time, space and money weren't an issue I'd be a dog person. Weimaraner for preference.

I could make a tastless comment about pussy but that would predictable and not very funny, so I shan't.

Yeh, but I'm claiming all royalties on your name for the next three years. It was in the contract you so guilibly signed for two bottles of baby oil

Though you did bargain hard for the pork pie on top. So, credit where credit's due. 8)
